Can't. But don't blame the contractor when the Pentagon or Congress has its head up its ass.

F22 and F35 may have a legitimate purpose in dealing with future developments from our future enemies. Currently all of our battles have been third world engagements supplied with outdates weapons. Seems we need a mix of equipment lower cost
and capable such as F15, F16, A10, F18 as well as state of the art stuff. Big dollars, big decisions. B2 hasn't really been utilized for it's intended purpose. Why was the F117 retired?

The F-117A was first generation stealth designed in the 1970s. Limited payload (two bombs generally). Limited range (required a base in theatre. Reportedly difficult to fly.

In contrast, a B-2A Spirit can strike any target in the northern hemisphere from the continental U.S. with only one aerial refueling while carrying 40,000 lbs. or ordnance.

Why was the F-117 called the "Stealth Fighter"?

What was it designed to fight? Nothing.

    It was a fighter-sized bomber.

Because unlike the USN, the Air Force stopped using the "attack" designation.

It would have been more accurate to designate it the B-117.

    Or the B-(insert number here).

It was still a bomber, not a fighter.

The only thing it had in common with a fighter was it's size.

The USAF has been run by the so called "fighter mafia" for years and in general they hate the "Bomber" designation for aircraft except for long range strategic bombers.

And who runs the Air Force?

Guys with wings on their uniforms.

    And fighter pilots, mostly.

Fighter pilots may not be more important than other pilots, but they certainly THINK they are.

There are only two kinds of airplanes: fighters and targets.

The B2 is looking like a huge waste of money. What has it done? One of its original purposes was to "deliver nuclear bombs".. so why do you need a plane to do that when you can do it in so many other ways?

If you think the B-2 is a "huge waste of money" what are you going to think about the NEXT long range bomber?

    What's IT gonna cost?

Same? Twice as much? Ten times as much? Twenty?

The B-2 HAS dropped bombs in combat.

    Do we need it?

Like some other weapons systems, it is an insurance policy for America.
