    They should update it with some sort of polymer stock instead of wood, wood gets warped in the heat and fucks up the sights. It's worse in a jungle environment with humidity added to it, but arid regions kills the wood too.

    Other than that still a great rifle, from 1891 and on. Simo Häyhä used it for 505 kills in the 100 days Winter War in Finland, average of five a day! And he didn't even use a scope, so lense flare wouldn't give away his position. Zaytsev managed half that in five months with a scope.

    Cost effective warfare. What good is 30 well-trained longbowmen against 5,000 crossbowmen?

    He means the Mosin is cheaper.

    But there have been way better rifles developed over there since the Mosin. The Dragunov, for example. But, I guess, some folks still like the Mosin...
