Yes, of course Britain required help with supplies, but the USA was not the only source. Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Fiji, India, Malaya, parts of Africa, and parts of the Middle East, were all parts of the British Empire, and all contributed food and supplies, as well as fighting forces, to the mother country - so it is a matter of opinion.

It's more about convoy defence. Before they were forced to join the war, the President sneaked through significant help. Given the losses from U Boats, I doubt we'd have sufficient supplies getting through

Why didn't they mount their own attacks?

Why did they wait for the US to bring them over to the fight?
Why did the US wait until they were attacked?

I can't believe they still let you post here. More Flamebait to get a rise out of people and nothing more.

    Another dumb fucking thread..

It was worse than that. Germany declared war first. Difficult to say what would have happened if Hitler hadn't done that. Alien to the President's beliefs, there were still big calls to stick to a Pacific campaign

Perhaps, but we can only surmise. As the Iron Duke said of Waterloo - it was a damn close run thing.

Yep!! Even with the Iron Duke. Was he called that because we smashed his windows and he put iron shutters up, or was he called that beforehand? On that one though, I like to stick to the windows explanation!

Lol, thanks for that - I didn't know about the windows and the iron shutters installed. I Googled it, but it seems that the origins of the sobriquet are still uncertain.
