Seems like a lot of money coming out of our budget for things that are self-funded.

Couldn't agree more. Infrastructure needs attention and soon.

    Wait...what?

Assuming you can even find one, buried in the maze of warships that they run with, surrounded by layers of gradually tightening defense nets... If you have satellites and you can pinpoint an aircraft carrier, certainly you can nuke it if you are so inclined. But other than that..

It is not my understanding that directly attacking a United States aircraft carrier is a simple matter. I could be wrong, I suppose.

and yet we hear of how the military has been depleted under Democratic rule....

How many aircraft carriers do we need, when China has two and Russia is about to have none at all?

Just wondering, just like I wonder whether we really need to spend so much on the military. What do you think?
Depends how well you want to protect your surface Ships from Missile and Submarine and Air Attack.

If you don't want to protect your surface ships, we don't need many.

Its on Trumps list but I'm sure once he proposes it you will call it the most horrible thing you've ever seen.

One hit from a modest size missile can disable a ship for quite some time. Sinking it is not crucial. A damaged flight deck, a hole in the side with numerous flooded compartments and the ship is likely out of action. How many incoming missiles can the fleet deal with? No one knows , it's never happened. An incoming sea skimming missile is a tiny target.

Yeah, but in namvet's defense, it probably will be.

I mean, you can't just write "infrasturctsher" on the front cover and hand it in and that means it's great. When it turns out his infrastructure plan involves exterminating the entire world population of wolves and filling the Great Lakes with light crude...well, I suppose then there is a slim chance you'll understand, look around and give a long, slow, "Heeeeeeey, wait a sec-cond...."

If it's the typical infrastructure held hostage to this or that GOP wishlist, then yeah. But a stand-alone, we really just want to fix the country's bridges, roads and grid bill will get my support and I don't care if a Rep or Dem gets the job done.

    Not enough according to "many."

You're not going to tell me that social security is going bankrupt and that it's an entitlement are you?
