Warthogs can get close to the mud ,where the soldiers are. They stay till they fck over the bad guys. Warthogs are DESIGNED and built to be TOUGH, to take hits and still do the job and return. We have NO other Fighter made to survive taking a lot of hits.

SHOW ME. Show me an A 10 B, a modernized Warthog. While there's "upgrades" that can be done....some of the beauty of a Warthog.. is it ain't full of costly/vulnerable "fancy stuff". It's been a LONG time since we had a challenge to our air to air fighters. So.. the F-22 is replacing the F-15 (still damn effective) and .....it's a legit plane.

FACT......we OFTEN have fought LOW TECH enemies.
We get in a WAR where CLOSE AIR is what MATTERS... not a super fast Air- Air jet or a big bomber.
GIMME a REAL Super Warthog. Better Night ability, some 7.62 mm machine guns to shoot up INFANTRY. likely we now have a bit higher tech for the armor. Keep it "low _ slow" and a MEAN UGLY bird.DO NOT get stupid. F-35 can SHINE in the Wild Weasel Anti Radar role. I am FINE on that. NOTHING except warthogs are built as a flying TANK.
I believe in using the right tool for the job. An F35 would have to do it's ground support from high altitude using smart weapons. It doesn't carry many. Down low it would be very vulnerable to ground fire. At 90-100 million apiece, it's over priced and under armed for the job. A model f35 carries so little cannon ammo. B,C model require cannon pods. With very little ammo. Is there still life in the A10 air frames and can parts still be gotten?

    That's possible.

But, any numbers of other things could have happened.

    Maybe it was hacked.

Either way, they got our drone intact and copied anything and everything they didn't already have.

They now have the ability to defeat it. Now we have to upgrade the thing to get around that.

That's been going on for decades.

We are always trying to stay one step ahead.

They steal our tech as fast as we can upgrade it.

WE do the R&D, develop the product ,, then let the technology slip away.

    Absolutely.

Cheaper and easier to steal technology than to develop it.
