I disagree. The 7 years war involved all the powers in Europe, and took place on a global basis, with fighting in the colonial provinces. Same with the Napoleonic wars. The Civil War involving Julian vs. Constantinius involved the Western Roman Empire fighting the Eastern Roman Empire. The Punic Wars lasted 100 years and involved all the Mediterranean powers.
    We disagree

    Mr. Devil,

I left out the mongal Conquest which spread from eastern Asia, Asia minor, and a large portion of Europe, and which killed a greater percentage of the World population than WWII.

What it appears is that you have a very shallow definition of World War.

But then you could argue that the Korean War was merely an extension of World War II and the Vietnam War was merely an extension of the Korean War.

War is when you are fighting. Peace is when you are not fighting. Progressives seem to have an obsession with screwing around with the basic meaning of words.

Fair argument as most are interconnected in some way but I'd argue that the world war was more than interconnected......it was a singularity with a pause to rearm and repopulate armies.

Depends on how you define "Fighting."
