Iranian Drone Comes “Dangerously” Close to U.S. Aircraft Carrier in Persian Gulf
    By Ahmad Majidyar
    | Aug 14, 2017

Iran sent another drone close to a U.S. Navy aircraft carried in the Persian Gulf on Sunday, the media reported today. Last week, an Iranian drone had an “unsafe” encounter with a U.S. Navy F-18 Hornet as it was landing aboard the U.S.S. Nimitz in the Persian Gulf. Navy Lt. "Despite repeated radio calls to establish communications and remain clear, the QOM-1's controlling station was unresponsive and the [unmanned aerial vehicle] did not use any aircraft navigation lights while it made several passes in close proximity to Nimitz and its escort ships during active flight operations, coming within 1,000 feet of U.S. aircraft," Navy Lt. Ian McConnaughey, a spokesman for the Bahrain-based 5th Fleet, said. "The failure of the Iranian UAV to utilize standard, internationally-mandated navigation lights during a night time approach of a U.S. aircraft carrier engaged in flight operations created a dangerous situation with the potential for collision and is not in keeping with international maritime customs and laws."

Comment: It is not the first time that Iranian naval forces harass U.S. assets in the Persian Gulf. The U.S. Navy reported on 35 “unsafe” encounters with Iranian naval forces last year, compared to 23 in 2015. And there have been several such interactions this year.

In June, U.S. military officials said three U.S. Navy ships and a Marine helicopter had an “unsafe and unprofessional” encounter with an Iranian Navy vessel in international waters in the Persian Gulf. The amphibious assault ship U.S.S. Bataan, guided-missile destroyer U.S.S. Cole and dry cargo ship U.S.N.S. Washington Chambers were sailing through the Strait of Hormuz when an Iranian vessel came within 800 yards of the Bataan, according to a statement by the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet. The Iranian vessel also shined a laser at the U.S. helicopter accompanying the ships. "Illuminating helicopters with lasers at night is dangerous as it creates a navigational hazard that can impair vision and can be disorienting to pilots using night vision goggles," the statement added. One U.S. defense official told CNN that the Iranian vessel was a missile boat.

Iranian Drones Now Regular Nuisance for Carrier in Persian Gulf

    Military.com By Hope Hodge Seck
ABOARD THE USS GEORGE H. W. BUSH, Persian Gulf -- Visits from Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles designed for surveillance have become commonplace here, where the Bush and ships from its strike group patrol and launch airstrikes on Islamic State targets in Iraq and Syria.

While small Iranian vessels continue to approach the carrier and harass U.S. ships elsewhere in the region, the spy drones appear more regularly, said Capt. Will Pennington, commanding officer of the Bush.

"That is a capability that the entire world is getting, and Iran is no different," he told Military.com in an interview. "These aren't small, radio-controlled drones. They're reconnaissance."

Iranian Harassment of US Navy Drops Under Trump

July 6, 2018 Constitutional DrunkNews, Politics, Technology
A study of U.S. Navy statistics from Fox News tells a story of two presidential administrations, at least in terms of Iranian provocations of the U.S. military.

The study revealed that after dozens of instances of Iranian harassment of the U.S. Navy in the last years of the Obama administration, incidents of provocation have dropped in the first two years of the Trump presidency.

In 2015, the year that President Obama enacted the Iran nuclear deal, Iranian vessels harassed American ships 22 times. That aggression escalated in 2016, Obama’s last year, with 36 instances of provocation.

Included in those 2016 numbers was the abduction of American sailors, which the Iranians filmed and broadcast to the world.

However, the numbers have dropped precipitously in the years since President Trump took office. Trump has frequently deployed tough-on-Iran rhetoric.

Iranian vessels pestered American naval ships only 14 times in 2017, Trump’s first year, and that number has fallen to an incredible zero occurrences of Iranian aggression so far in 2018.

Trump withdrew the United States from the Iran nuclear deal in May of this year.

yeah, but Obama would never have been elected if Trump had run against him. So, that means Trump is responsible for killing bin laden.

Well, if you read the article that I posted, it seems to be the case that they have fallen off, but why? Is it because of Trump? I don't know and neither does anyone else, seemingly.
