Little known trivia fact Thomas Custer was the younger brother of George Armstrong Custer and was awarded two medals of honor. In a largely forgotten incident Thomas Custer picked a one on one right with crazy horse and whipped crazy horses Lakota butt.

He deliberately left crazy horse alive to humiliate him.

I would have to give the edge to Pancho.
Yep, even George Custer thought his brother Tom was a real badass.

Well, Rommel's predicament in North Africa wasn't completely Hitler's fault either.

It was Britain's! They had the VASTLY superior Navy, and, air fields all around the Med....

Very difficult for Rommel to keep his mechanized armies moving, when they were always low on gas, food, water, ammo, etc.

I will give Montgomery full credit for El Alamein, though. Monty was a "planner." And in that battle his plan worked perfectly.

We might have said the same about operation "Market Garden," but, it was a bit too complicated, with too many goals. And, a surprise Panzer Division in the area.....Paratroopers don't fare so well against Panzer Divisions......

    SEALS, yes.

    Green Berets...No.

But, then again...in their day, the Green Berets operated in larger formations and numbers.

Might as well compare Spetsnaz to Marines. If you put 6 Marines Vs 6 Spetsnaz, then, the Spetsnaz win.

BUT....if you put a BATALLION of Marines, against 6 Spetsnaz, the Spetsnaz probably take heavy casualties.

However...."Fighting" and "taking/holding" ground really is not the purpose of such special forces.

Marine Recon, and Seals are far more successful...if they are gone, before anyone really knows they were there.

No one sends in a squad of Special Forces to capture and hold a large city.....

(Which is why the Warrior Vs. Warrior show is rather silly.)

    This is the Deadliest Warrior

lol Actually, this is the new "Centurion" battle gear set for Russian special forces, specifically, this one is for the Marines and Navy special units. It is equipped with a armor vest that also functions as a life jacket: it can float, apparently. Also features much other tech.

Can even come with a shield

Some commenters question whether the poor ssoldier will even be able to move around well in this insane contraption... Another brainchild of Russian military research...

Unfortunately that changed about 15 years ago.

Now it's a chubby, 21 year old drone controller with a Red Bull and a Medal of Honor who has never spent a minute of his service outdoors.

Actually..Napoleon Lost BIG when he lost. I don't know just what's the STANDARDS.. as it spoke of a one on one swordfight. Obviosly.. Ali would knock Napoleon silly. Obviosly.. there's sealsnipers who pop you from a mile away.. so.. skills with a sword.. no big plus.

If it's Best General? If it's best at hand to hand or "old time" weapons or.. guns...maybe something else. I'd take an A-10 Warthog Pilot in a gunfight. Don't bring a Glock to a fight against a GAU-8 30 MM.

Yeah.. not clear on the rules..but I still like an A-10 warthog as best gunfighter. Spec Ops are TOUGH in small unit stuff.... but... in a WAR....it's the whole package. The package that Hit the Iraqis in the Gulf War....got a VERY one sided outcome. Maybe as one sided as anything EVER.

The ability to do hand to hand combat is different from the ability to lead a big army and conquer turf. Alexander The Great.. for instance....was a LOT younger at his peak. G Washington was at least a foot taller than Napoleon. Napoleon had a fatal flaw. He overestimated himself. His Invade Russia thing was ABYSMAL. He LOST ..the strongest Army in Europe far from home.. then abandoned them short on suppluy in nasty weather to save himself. Pathetic.
