    So far i'm thinking:

*The NEO-PROGRESSIVE ERA to describe everything from Columbus to a couple hundreds years ahead. 1500-2300 maybe (Neo progressive History)
    * specifically the 1850-2100 period will be 'the fossil fuel age'. analogous to the Bronze age or stone age.

    ## ofcourse if people 500 years from now are living in other star systems (star trek style) then you could refer to this age as 'the PRE-STELLAR AGE'. although that's probably venturing into realms of fantasy.

*the industrial age? the digital age? the computer age? the fossil fuel age? the oil age? the mechanical age?
**how about the Progressive era? or maybe "the new world era"- in homage to the early ages of exploration around 1500. or even still the Columbine era (Columbine history) in honour of the man who spearheaded this era- CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS.
    what defines this current epoch???

NOTE: **I HAVE IGNORED SPACE AGE- because I assume future humans will still be in a space age (nuclear apocalypse permitting). we will have colonised half the solar system by then.
or even still the Columbine era

I thought this is the Columbine era, where history is made by young men with guns.

I think it's the information age and we're being a touch melodramatic.

Tell me any period of time, any at all, that you would be better off living in than now.

And by the way - if you were born into a wealthy influential family then you get to imagine yourself being born into a wealthy influential family in the era you're imagining.

Otherwise you're an illiterate, diseased serf who bows to the landowner and dies at 20.
