What Historical Eras or Events Are You Drawn To?

History enthusiasts not only love history, but they often have specific eras and events that they are drawn to or interested in more than others. What are some of yours?

    Some of mine:

The formation and early years of the American government following the Revolutionary War.
Lewis & Clark, and other explorers of the American West.
    American Civil War
The formation and early history of Israel
    World War II
    Thanks from Sparta and Paris

The era from about 1880-1920. The birth moment of the modern Democrat party (1896, William Jennings Bryan) and the modern presidential campaign (1900, Mark Hanna running the campaign of William McKinley). The introduction of the secret ballot. Huge levels of immigration and industrialization. The Social Gospel. The Scratchers. The Muckrakers. The Silver Question. Rise of American Imperialism

I like that TN history one.

There's a lot of very cool history that we sometimes never learn or explore because it's more localized as regional, state, or community history. It can often be more fascinating and interesting than one of the many homogenized looks at a national or worldwide topic.

(not knocking the big history subjects... just appreciating the small)
