    Actually, local climate changes can cause pandemics. A recent theory put forward states that a change in climate in the Pakistan area of the world caused rats to move to Europe which caused the Black Death.

    Rats would not move to a colder climate they would migrate south... infected Rats and Fleas came via the spice trade.. infected the rats. Which infected more fleas which infected people.
