If the Multiverse theory is right, then there should be a universe in which the American Revolution did not take place. We need "merely" create a machine that accesses parallel universes, and then "channel surf" until we find the appropriate one.

That the British Empire of the 18 hundreds was without the entire wealth, manpower and resources of the US is probably the only reason there's a world left standing.

Look at what the UK did WITHOUT those assets.

Robert A. Heinlein explored this concept in Number of the Beast.

There is also a universe where Al Gore became the rightful President of the United States in 2001, there was never a clusterfuck of an invasion of Iraq, we actually started paying DOWN the national debt, and where we took major steps to limit global warming and climate change.

I want to find the door to THAT universe.

mtm1963 is actually thinking that we are going to try to invent a time machine, go back in time, and kill George Washington before Yorktown. Or sumthin' like that.

    He is VERY worried!

Don't know about that. Britain was the leader in the slave trade and while they then became the biggest military suppressors of the slave trade, they didn't do that until demand for new slaves went way down and the level of profit was lower. The Brits declared every man who sets foot on British soil is free in 1772, but that rule did not apply to the colonies. Considering the value of slaves as a commodity and the need for their labor in the American South, its unlikely the Brits would have opted for emancipation earlier than 1863. Slaves were worth about as much in 1860 as were all the factories and machine tools of the industrial North. No way a colonizer will give up that kind of wealth any more easily than a state.
Independence was bad for Native Americans
No doubt true, but Native Americans were pretty much screwed the moment Columbus set foot on soil in the Western Hemisphere. Look where tribalism thrives elsewhere in the world now--Afghanistan and western Pakistan, a few places in very remote Africa or the East Indies and some very remote areas of Latin America. Tribal people are marginalized everywhere by the nation state.
America would have a better system of government if we'd stuck with Britain[/B]
I know a little something about British politics from 1770 to 1840 or so, and I can say that the Foxite Whigs (forebears of the Whig reformers of the 1830's) were very pleased with the American Revolution. They thought it brought all their most pressing concerns to the fore. The FRENCH Revolution scared the crap out of them, but that strengthened the forces of oppression, not reform. The Brits don't get to the Reform Act of 1832 that sets the course of their government system without experiencing the American Revolution.

Second guessing history is a foolish endeavor.

Take the idea that slavery would have ended sooner. Zip zero nada to base the concept on past personal opinion.
