There was another thread on "The Sea Peoples"...can't find it, but I posted on the theories of their origin. If you or the other guys can find it, it would be worth posting in this thread.

It might have been this... Sea Peoples and the Phoenicians ...related to the Phoenicians.

This Philistine cemetery MAY help them investigate this question. In some cases, we can pinpoint WHERE people came from.

Some Biblical stories are myths, and some are not. As I indicated earlier in this thread, it is at ABOUT the time of King David that we begin reading some REAL history in the Bible. Before King David? Pretty much myth, all right. Sorry, no flood. No Adam and Eve. No Methuselah.

We were also discussing the Sea Peoples in Old Gaffer's thread on 1177 BC. That is probably the thread you were thinking of.....

Are you thinking of the Hyksos? They conquered Upper Egypt in the late Bronze Age with their superior technology of war chariots and recurved bows that had twice the range of the simple Egyptian bows of the time. They found the tomb of the Pharaoh of the day, he died from a massive battle ax blow to the head.

Might be some DNA there but the Philistines were wiped out as a people. I do not think the Philistines were a Semitic people...
