What you did is normally counterproductive. The body of children reacts in another way. Alcohol is a very dangerous poison. The younger someone is, who drinks alcohol, the higher is the risk to become an alcoholics. And the later someone tries to stop to be an alcoholics, the less is the chance to win back the own lost life.

You lack a real culture about wine..... In many countries especially North of the Mediterrean Sea it is normal to educate children form the age of 14 up to know about wine...... And wine has little consequence on the health as long as the quantitites are small...

Wine (and beer) had in former times a gigantic advantage: wine is without germs, because the poison alcohol kills all biological organisms. The same time a human body is able to drink alcohol, because a human body can convert this poison in a harmless substance. So this meant hundreds and thousands of years ago it was good to drink wine instead of water, if the source of water was not very clear - and nearly nowhere was water really clear. In a village the germs were normally not a problem, because all people there were resistant against this "well known" germs - but guests were not resistant. So it was usual to offer wine to guests or to offer wine when the people had celebrations or lots of people met each other. One problem: Alcohol is extremely addictive. It's a psychoactive substance. A drug. A killer on its own. It kills the soul and the body. What you call "culture" in this context is in my ears the art to die first on other reasons, before alcohol kills the own body.

The happiest territory in America was Puerto Rico, very poor country, problems with its government. Very happy.

You are probably living in a different cultural environment..... One of my friend who is a scientist worked during years at Nestlé's which has an imortant research center not far from where I live. Extensive studies were made there about wine and the conclusions were that people drinking between 3 to 5 deciliters of wine a day were in better health than non drinking ones or people drinking more. One more thing there is that addiction exists in all countries but in Mediterrean ones where people drink wine regularly there is probably not more addiction than in coutries where people drink more beer or strong drinks.....
