St. Petersburg Food Shop Declares LGBT BanIf you consider trendy health food to be hippy-dippy, think again: An organic farm shop in St. Petersburg is banning gay customers from entering its premises.
A wooden sign at the city's “Bread and Salt” store declares that "faggots are banned” from the shop, Russia's Fontanka news agency reported.
LGBT activists from advocacy group “Vykhod” (Coming Out) have already appealed to local police officers to remove the sign. The group's lawyers are currently considering whether to press charges of “inciting hatred” against the shop, the activists wrote on Facebook.
The shop, which specializes in organic food, was opened on April 7 by prominent Orthodox activist German Sterligov. He has already announced plans to open 4 more branches of the store across St. Petersburg.
German Sterligov... Wow... Guy surfaces yet again...
He was a... well... businessman, of sorts, in the 90s, mixed up with gangsters and such, pretty much himself a gangster
He gained the nickname kuvalda ("sledgehammer") in the criminal world in St. Petersburg back then, because it is said he once forced a man who owed him money to repay the debt, by breaking that guy's wife's legs in front of him with a sledgehammer. Nice dude, in short...
He got pretty rich, in fact, was one of Russia's earliest billionaires, reportedly.
In mid-2000s, he suddenly went all religious
Not just Orthodox. He became a fucking Old Believer, the most conservative branch of Orthodoxy, who claim to practice the faith the original way, the way it was introduced to Russia by the Byzantines, before the Great Reformation. They were actually persecuted and violently repressed by the mainstream Church under the Tsars, for being too wacky and crazy even for them!
He then took his family and they all moved out way into the countryside, "to pursue a traditional way of life"
His wife wanted to take their TV with them; but German supposedly pulled out his pistol and shot it full of holes before her eyes. Nope, he is not psychologically unstable, no sir!
Since then, they founded a large compound, where they were joined by a bunch of like-minded traditionalist families, they have all kinds of farming there and beehives
and other stuff.
All the men have beards
and the women wear traditional dresses and headscarves
They are also armed to the teeth
which scares away anyone who'd want to object to their strange ways.
Sterligov often carries a Cossack shashka saber when appears on TV shows and such
Shows his ignorance, IMHO Cossacks used those shashkas to chop heads off Old Believers like him, back in the day, on the orders of the Church lol Now, he threatens liberals and abortion activists and such with his own one...
One positive thing about all the stores Sterligov runs with his organization "Russian Peasant Congress"
They give away bread for free if you can convince the salesman you are poor. "Bread is free for the poor. Just ask the salesman." I have no idea how you are supposed to prove that you are poor haha But, anyway, so, he guys DOES do good.
But, of course, he has no love for gays. And I doubt those activists will succeed against him either. Sterligov has some powerful backers. He is considered one of the leaders of Russia's ultraconservative movement, and this movement has some big supporters in the government. He will be protected, I don't doubt that.
