    So sick of this shit...

The co-owner of the Crocus City Oceanarium Andrey Chernov was shot dead yesterday, August 4.

The hitman attacked the 52-year-old entrepreneur while he was jogging in the Suvorovsky Park located in the west of Moscow. A woman who called the police found his body. The businessman was shot 5 times, one time to the head and 4 times to the chest, according to the police.

The police is looking for the hitman. Investigators searched the victim’s home and questioned his wife. Chernov had never received any threats, according to his wife. The woman does not know who might have killed him.

Meanwhile, the investigators believe it was a contract hit ordered due to conflict of business interest.

The victim hailed from Ufa, according to mk.ru. He opened the marine park in the Crocus City Mall together with his partners in December of 2016. Chernov fancied sports and tried cultivating love for football in his employees, according to the victim’s friends.

Chernov have adult sons, according to the victim’s employees. One of them works in a bank, another is the deputy director of the oceanarium.

    ?????????? ? ?????? ???????-????? ? ?????????? ???????? ? ?????? ? ?????? ????

It's a great attraction for kids, school classes now go there for field trips

But... Malls are a heavily criminalized business in Russia. All retail is. Hell... All business there is criminalized, one way or another, nobody is clean, since the 90s to today. But retail especially. Most retail tycoons are straight up gangsters, mafia guys, who started back then, in the 90s, when they took over their first street markets and such by force, collected protection money. Those who didn't get killed back then, got rich, the winners, began to get into bigger, more "legitimate" business, especially the "shopping and entertainment centers" (TRTs), as malls are called there, when this new trend emerged in mid-2000s.

And putting out a hit on a business rival or competitor is a perfectly normal way of solving problems and getting things done over there...

I remember seeing a 2011 photo of Bill Gates' wife and daughter out for a stroll somewhere

I was shocked: they are out by themselves, with no security!

In Russia, an oligarch or any rich businessman's wife is surrounded by bodyguards, wherever she goes

    The kids have own bodyguards

    Not to mention daddy himself

This Chernov apparently made a fatal mistake: went out there, jogging, by himself, let his bodyguards wait for him in the car. Figured he was safe enough in a nice, upscale area park in central Moscow, the naive fool... Some of the Russian articles pretty much say it: he took his life in own hands...

But, it shouldn't be this way. Big business, politics, and organized crime, all intertwined, the whole system, whole nation, corrupted completely, rotted out to the core... It's horrible...

And apparently this is the system Donald Trump thinks is no worse than the USA. Sigh...

Do you see any realistic way of turning this culture around?

Interestingly enough (and I knew this, but didn't think of it when wrote this thread), the Crocus City Mall, and also the nearby Crocus City Hall concert venue, are owned by the Agalarov family.

Aras Agalarov is a very rich Russian-Azerbaijani oligarch, the richest and most powerful of the Azerbaijanis, I heard, since the sad fall of Telman Ismailov (The rise and fall of an oligarch...), a construction and real estate tycoon, very close to the Kremlin (as most oligarchs are, of course)

Even has received medals from Putin for various important construction projects his companies have done for the government

His son Emin is a pop star famous in the Russian-speaking realm

though his critics say he is only successful because of his dad's money spent to promote him and dad's influence to get him time on TV and radio and recording contracts and whatnot

I think he is also smart to often team up with other really popular artists, like Ani Lorak

Especially today, when Lorak is beloved in Russia, for, pretty much, politically, siding with them over her native Ukraine... hehe

Anyway, Crocus City Hall was the site of the Miss World pageant in 2013

Guess who the Agalarovs met there?

It is said he became great friends with the Agalarovs, and they played a big role in the whole Trump Jr./Russian lawyer/email thing:

The Trumps of Russia? How billionaire Agalarov family ended up in the spotlight

Not saying the case in OP has anything to do with Trump (or even, necessarily, the Agalarovs, though, who knows). But, yeah...

Well, the Agalarovs were involved in the meeting between Donald Jr and the lawyer last year, where they offered dirt on Hillary but really wanted to talk about "adoptions." It's all connected...

That's what I meant, yes. I meant that it's not necessarily they are connected to this murder (though its very possible). But the email thing, yes, for sure.

There are many back there whom I love and care about. Including my own son, Igor... I want and hope for him to live in a better society when he grows up over there. But, I doubt that place will ever change...

You can take The Man out of Russia but you can't take Russia out of The Man.

And anyway, it's all connected. Putin is trying to remake the world in his own image, and Canada is part of the world.

Speaking of famous people without protection, how about an ex-Prime Minister at a festival? An up-market one, to be fair!

Mrs Cameron is beside the chap with the blue cap, and callmeDave is looking into the lens.
