If the US sends arms to Ukraine...

Vyacheslav Nikonov, Russian politician, Duma member, grandson of Stalin's Foreign Minister, Molotov, on Russian TV show, hours ago, explains to a Ukrainian panelist what will happen if US sends defensive weapons to Ukraine:

    I translate:

"There can and will be two answers. Symmetrical and asymmetrical. Symmetrical answer means what? Right now, there are no modern Russian weapons in the hands of the [rebel republics], nothing made after 1991. If the Americans send you some of their stuff; there will be modern Russian weapons in Donbass tomorrow. I promise you this. And you will not like the results, believe me. Because how many American weapons can Ukraine afford? We can pour much more to Donbass, you know this. And asymmetrical? We will give full diplomatic recognition to Donetsk and Lugansk [as independent states], and pull out of the Minsk Process. Is this what you want? You will get it. You want more blood? You will get it."

    Applause in the studio...

US, btw, is indeed considering sending defensive arms to Ukraine right now...

If I understood correctly, when he was interrupted by the guy opposite he said something that sounded like - "Maybe you have seen it but it's not there. You are seeing things (that aren't there). You have a need (to portray it like that)."

It's interesting how in Russian you can use just one word where in English you need a whole sentence. He just said "Это вам нужно". I regret not fully learning Russian. It's an interesting language with a very interesting people and culture.

I digress. I thought the US had already sent some arms to Ukraine during the Obama administration but stopped because it perceived that it could lead to a larger confrontation with Russia. Did they really stop and are not under Tillerson and Trump pushing for increased armament of the Ukrianians?

If Russia sends (a lot ?) of weapons to Dombass why shouldn't it be done for Ukraine ? Are the Russians playing against the trick of limited sovereignty of the time of Cold War which was was Eastern European countries and in favor of Soviet Union ? Has any country a God given right to an influence zone which steps on other countries' territories ?

    A few points:

#1. America and the Ukraine have a 'treaty' that says we will protect and aid them. This was in exchange for them surrendering their nukes back in the '90's.

#2. NO ONE, even America's allies, should expect US to come to THEIR aid. We just do not operate that way, sadly. Look at history.

#3. As such, Ukrainians who want the Crimea, and Dombass back, have, but one, dark option: Terror. Inevitably, some will either adopt the tactics of terrorism, or, they will accept their situation.

#4. I do not think Terrorism will work on the Kremlin.

I don't know if they sent any before. They are considering now: US considering arms to Ukraine, says envoy Volker - BBC News

I don't believe many Ukrainians would be into terrorism. The ones put in prison now in Crimea and elsewhere in Russia are just trumped up political cases, they are not real terrorists.

But, all that said, Russia and Ukraine have special role within each other, and Belarus too. Theseare not foreign countries, like, say US and Iraq. This is one civilization, members, descendants of one civilization. The West and its interference has only exasperated their problems, honestly. Nobody wanted fratricide, in Donbass or elsewhere. It could have been resolved peacefully... Should have been.
