Korean crisis: Did media miss the obvious?

For all his huffing and puffing, Trump had no intention of taking military action against North Korea in 2017. And the first two months of 2018 will also be peaceful. The reason? Trump was never going to screw up the 2018 Winter Olympics, which will take place in Pyeongchang, South Korea, from Friday, February 9, 2018 to Sunday, February 25, 2018.

Any hostilities would have thrown a wrench into the Olympics plans if not cancelled them entirely in the face of a likely North Korea counterattack against South Korea. And there is big money involved and we know that Trump doesn’t mess with Big Money.

    That's a good point.

Let's hope that we NEVER take military action against N Korea.

Good to know that we have a couple of months of relative peace to look forward to...

Although, I wouldn't want to stick around past closing ceremonies either...

Who is to say that North Korea wouldn't lob one of its nuclear bombs into South Korea just after the opening ceremonies? Talk about a great target to demonstrate his capabilities to the world.

The so called "leader" of N Korea may be delusional enough to think he can start, survive, and maybe even win a nuclear war.

Early this month Trump did suggest pulling the US out of the Olympics because of N. Korea's hostility.

Here's the problem, HE CAN. If he were to attack us or one of our allies, is China or Russia going to let us retaliate with nuclear weapons? I doubt it. Neither country wants the refugees that would stream across their borders. Think about it. What would our response be if a single nuclear detonation were to occur from North Korea that hit Japan or South Korea? If it were to hit Guam, I think that President Trump would retaliate without caring about China or Russia's feeling on it and would use the dead Americans as a reason.

But what do you realistically think the response would be if North Korea hit Japan or South Korea?
