    Brutality or justice?

The family of a former riot police officer, who was found dead in a prison cell on New Years day, is seeking a federal investigation into the suspicious circumstances of his death.

Artyom Tronin was reportedly found hanging from a bedsheet on Jan. 1, with bruises on his body and belt buckle marks around his neck, the Kommersant business daily reported on Tuesday. He was serving a 12-year sentence at a penal colony in central Russia for beating a man to death while on duty and arbitrarily detaining two others.

We photographed the body. His mouth was ruptured, teeth cracked as if he was squeezing them, his head was torn and his whole body bruised, Tronins mother was cited by Kommersant as saying.

Yet the [death] record stated that there were no cuts or injuries on the body.

The Tronin family has asked for an official investigation into the circumstances of his death. They seek to recover video footage related to Tronins death and investigate the chief and guards of the penal colony.

Tronin converted to Islam while behind bars and reportedly lodged complaints about his treatment with the prosecutors office.

Tronin's mother has maintained that her son did not commit suicide because he was determined to die standing rather than on his knees."

I knew that there would be pressure, but I didnt think that it would end like this, she said.
Detained Ex-Cop Found Dead by Hanging in Russian Jail Cell

    I researched this case.

These five guys, all disgraced OMON (paramilitary anti-riot units) cops were all sentenced in 2012

    This guy, Igor Zagoskin

was the ringleader of it all.

His girlfriend, Irina Dzhemadinova, called him from the local club, in the village of Ust-Chernaya, in Perm region. Said she'd got into a fight with another woman (true), and that some local men, including that woman's husband, then pushed and threatened her and her friend. She asked Igor to come and deal with those guys. Such crap happens a lot in Russia, half the violence that goes on between men over there, honestly, women start it...

This crew rolled into the village, and went looking for the guys who supposedly offended Igor's lady. Didn't find them (or, according to another version of the story, went down to one of them's house, and he and his father came out to face them, with guns, and these five, who were unarmed, had to retreat).

Later, they ran into Oleg Bychkov, a local doctor, innocent man who had nothing to do with this whole beef, nasty words were exchanged... and they beat him to death

Just killed a man, a husband, a father, for no fucking reason.

And they were later giggling about it all in court

    Dzhemadinova too

    And this is Tronin

They mocked and insulted the victim's mother in court too... Scum.

Supposedly, Tronin was especially mistreated, for converting to Islam. As a Slav, he was seen by many other Slavic inmates and guards as a traitor to his race and Orthodox faith, essentially. They made his life hell accordingly.

I have written a lot about the penal system over there, it's a total corrupt, criminalized mess:
    First escape from "Russia's Alcatraz"?
Transgender woman sent to male jail
Deputy head of prison service arrested
    "Red" prisons vs. "Black" prisons
How Russians get stuff into prison

In this case... I rarely would say this, but... These SOBs deserve every bit of it, as far as I am concerned. All that this horrible system dishes out on them, I am glad for it. His mom, Tronin's, I mean, may be sad... but, she should have just raised her son better.
    Thanks from Hollywood
