In the Trump era, we're back to a similar situation.

It would be particularly unfair if people in countries like the UK held Trump against traveling Americans, since Trump-supporting Americans are a disproportionately provincial lot. Generally speaking, the kind of U.S. citizen you encounter on the streets of London or Paris isn't the kind who supports Trump. Of my Facebook "friends," the Trumpsters are, with only one exception, people whose idea of an exotic vacation is a trip to Orlando or, at most, some tourist cloister in the Caribbean.
As an aside, many years ago when travelling I would wear a T-shirt printed with 'I am not an American' written in Arabic script.

Going to London? Better learn to speak with a British accent, or maybe get a phony Canadian passport. A T shirt that says, "Don't blame me, I didn't vote for the S.O.B." might help as well.
    Publicity stunt, you think?

"They" likely don't share a uniform POV on the shitiness of Americans.

We know that actual ugly Americans are rare, since most of them stay in their county, or join the Republican party. This weekend is about Trump, not real American visitors.

At first, I thought that was a typo, and that you had meant to write 'country'. But then I thought about it some more, and decided that 'county' probably IS the more appropriate word.

Those rural counties do tend to be pretty sprawling, though. Some of the counties in Wyoming could contain a few dozen Rhode Islands, I think.

Smart. If your T-Shirt had said "I am not an Arab" written in American script, you would no longer be alive.

    Just sayin'.

    In land, not population.

LOL It was about the time the US base in the ME was bombed killing all those soldiers. The anti-American sentiment in the ME was running high (as usual).
