Not only does Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) not know whether President Barack Obama loves America, he also appears to be unaware that the president is a Christian.

"I don't know," the potential 2016 candidate told The Washington Post at the winter meeting of the National Governors Association in Washington, D.C.

"I've actually never talked about it or I haven't read about that," Walker said of Obama's faith. "I've never asked him that. You've asked me to make statements about people that I haven't had a conversation with about that. How [could] I say if I know either of you are a Christian?"

Jocelyn Webster, a spokeswoman for the governor, followed up with the Post after the interview to clarify Walker's remarks.

"Of course the governor thinks the president is a Christian," she said. "He thinks these kinds of gotcha questions distract from what he's doing as governor of Wisconsin to make the state better and make life better for people in his state."

Some Democrats said Walker's comments cast doubt on his ability to lead.

"Scott Walker had a simple test. He could have risen above the fray, but he continues to flatly fail and instead push the same polarizing agenda and politics he has for years in Wisconsin," said Democratic National Committee spokeswoman Holly Shulman. "Today, Walker has proven himself once again to be unfit to lead."

Walker's comments follow controversial remarks made by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who said earlier this week at a private dinner for the Wisconsin governor that Obama doesn't love America.

They also come at a time when Walker's presidential stock is rising in a crowded GOP primary. Several early primary state polls have shown Walker at the top of the potential field.

All he had to do was say exactly what Mitch McConnell said when asked.....but no, he had to take the low road to throw red meat to his base and have his spokesperson say something different. His followers won't remember the correction the spokesperson made, but will remember that Walker took the opportunity to take a pot shot at Obama. It will certainly appease the ODS crowd.

I don't know that the president is a Christian, or not.

Not my place to say.

He says he is, so, I will take him at his word.

Even though...he tells more fibs than truths.

Still, his faith is between him and God. No one needs to inject themselves into that relationship, unless asked.....

The college dropout Walker doesn't know quite a few things. That's actually his platform.

Judging solely by the standards of many liberals on this board, Obama is a bad Christian.

this...

seems a fair response.

Change Christian Red Sox fan.

"I've actually never talked about it or I haven't read about that," Walker said of Obama's baseball team preference. "I've never asked him that. You've asked me to make statements about people that I haven't had a conversation with about that. How [could] I say if I know either of you are a Red Sox fan?"

Seems like a lot of whining about Walker.

Again, though...that's not my place to judge, one way or the other.

Whatever relationship President Obama has with the Divinity is between them.

If anyone were to judge Obama's Christianity by his actions, it's questionable.

The fact that Pres. Obama does not showcase his religious beliefs is a credit to him.

I agree. I was simply pointing out that while you do not feel qualified to judge in this matter, liberals here often do. I've seen countless posts by liberals whining that such and such a poster is a bad Christian. In looking at their justification for saying that, they 'should' be saying it about Obama as well. But they don't. Curiouser and curiouser.

Another example of Walker displaying that he's not the brightest bulb.

What exactly is wrong with this? I don't know if Barack Obama is a Christian, do you? We do know that he attended Rev. Wright's church for a number of years. Was he baptized into the faith? I have no idea. Has he "evolved" on this issue? Why is the reporter asking Scott Walker if Barack Obama is a Christian to begin with? Why not ask the President if he is?

The correct answer is: He says he is and I have no reason to doubt him. Beyond that, you're just throw red meat to the haters.

The same reason TR created a thread about it. To try and get an answer they can complain about and say 'See? Scott Walker said X, and that's bad!'

Has Barack Obama said that he's a Christian? I personally don't know if he has but yes, that is a good answer.

this like a Zen riddle. Christian's aren't suppose to judge others. But, you're saying if they did what they weren't suppose to do, Obama's Christianity ( what ever that means ), would be questionable? That would mean the Christianity of the ones that were judging would be questionable. Would it not?

Oh yea...nothing quite like an Liberal Atheist taking it upon themselves to tell Christians how they aren't being good Christians, while mocking the faith, at the same time.....

I mean, hell, we don't give them advice on sexual perversions, or, how to sign up for welfare......
