Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle warned President Donald Trump on Wednesday to avoid plunging the United States into another Iraq-like war in the Middle East, demanding more information about vague warnings that Iran might be planning attacks on U.S. personnel and facilities in the region.

Congressional leaders will get more information about the situation on Thursday during a confidential briefing with Trump officials, according to two Democratic sources. On Capitol Hill and on the campaign trail, politicians fretted that the situation felt eerily similar to the run-up to the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq.

‘Close to inconceivable': Trump’s Iran rhetoric sparks warning of Iraq war redux
I'm afraid trump is just crazy enough to either attack Iran, or goad Iran into an attack. Apparently our allies are worried too.

The British Ministry of Defense on Wednesday backed one of its generals who countered US claims of a heightened Iranian threat in Syria and Iraq. Lawmakers are raising questions about the administration's military planning for Iran. Analysts are pointing to national security adviser John Bolton's advocacy for regime change in Tehran, while the UN and US allies are expressing concern.

By the wall
Oh please, Trump has no interest in war, that would take the focus off of him and his great economy...he is not going to replace that with dead soldiers coming home in body bags.

Trump is all rhetoric, after almost 3 years we know this now....he talks tough, talks down to people, that's his shtick...he doesn't actually want to fight anyone.

All of his actions have been the opposite in fact.

Pulling us out of engagements.

He prefers the diplomatic wars, not ones where people actually die.

He is relying on his unpredictability to scare others into reacting in the way he wants them to. They don't know what he will do and that is his advantage.

He will rush those boats right up to your coast and play chicken with you but won't actually fire a shot.

He's betting you buckle first.

His bluff has yet to be called so far.

In fact, if you look at his presidency he has reduced tensions everywhere from a militaristic point of view.

The dude is the most anti-war president we've had since Carter.
