12 New Jersey schools roll out LGBTQ curriculum pilot program
New Jersey is among four states that passed laws mandating that public schools incorporate LGBTQ-inclusive curriculums.
By Liam Knox

"A year ago, New Jersey became the second state, following California, to pass a law requiring public schools to incorporate an LGBTQ-inclusive curriculum into their classrooms; Colorado and Illinois soon followed suit. And ahead of the statewide law, which goes into effect in September, the nonprofit groups Garden State Equality and Make It Better for Youth rolled out a pilot program last month in 12 public schools across the state, including Newark Arts High School, that will run until the end of the school year in June."
"Nearly 65 percent of students in the U.S. reported receiving no classroom instruction about LGBTQ people, history or events, and 15 percent reported receiving only negative information about LGBTQ people in the classroom, according to a 2017 report by the LGBTQ education advocacy group GLSEN. While less than 20 percent of students reported seeing positive LGBTQ representations in the classroom, the survey found that a more inclusive curriculum could have a positive effect on LGBTQ students' experience in school and their educational engagement overall."
"That is how the pilot program approaches lessons, according to Oliveira. When learning about the civil rights movement, for instance, students will learn about Rustin, and in lesson plans about World War II, students will be taught about Alan Turing, the "father of computer science," who helped defeat Nazi Germany by deciphering its coded messages. What's often left out of the history books is that Turing, despite having been a war hero, was chemically castrated by the British government for being gay, and he later died by suicide."

That curriculum has been needed since time immemorial. Had it been in place in schools all over the U.S. everyone, including teachers, might have learned to respect their LGBT counterparts and it may have just helped in avoiding so many suicides that have occurred in schools, including that of Jadin Bell a great young person from Oregon. Without such education bullies and demented thugs will continue to beat up and even kill those whom they perceive as being different from themselves. Yet in the name of discrimination, prejudice and bigotry schools have restricted such teaching, many times with the added boost from Republican lawmakers, so that students have no idea of their true identity and their rich history. It's high time that changed. With a good curriculum on LGBT history we could see the type of changes that might just contribute to saving many lives and educating even more people on the subject. But even if just one life was saved it would have all been worth it. All should read the main report all the way through.

Kids don't need a Homosexual curriculum.

This LGBTQ stuff teaching children in schools and libraries has gone way too far.

For the love of God

A) can you come up with more original lame talking points instead of using the same ones over and over for a change?
B) It ONE part of the History courses that they teach
C) Like it or not, gay people have been instrumental in our history
D) You seem to want everyone to abide by your religious views. That's NOT how it works in public schools

LGBTQ are represented in history based on their prominence, and numbers.
Anyone aware of history knows about gay priests and Roman pedophiles.
What the SJW's want to teach is typically a magnified virtuosity of these people.

and both of you are so wrong. Special rights for less than 0.0000001% of the population. Sorry, but Christians will reclaim the US for the Glory of God Almighty.
God cannot at all be amused by the great deception of the "Christian" right trying to convince people that the LGBT Community is seeking "special rights" when all they want as citizens of this country is parity and EQUAL RIGHTS. That's something that many of those on the right, being thick-headed, do not want to understand in their deep entrenchment in discrimination, prejudice and bigotry towards the Gay Community. That is sad. You also must admit that as much as you and your ilk would like for it to be America is not a Theocracy and will never be.

God hates sin, therefore God hates homosexuality.

I know you don't believe it's a sin that is in need of repentance. But I hope that someday God changes your heart on this

God hates sin; therefore, God hates homophobia and judgmentalism.

Apparently, you don’t believe those are sins in need of repentance, and I hope that God changes YOUR heart on this.
