Absurd talking points: "Every time you disagree with a liberal you're labled a racist".

Agreed. The problem isn't labeling racists racist, but labeling people who disagree with Left Wing ideas as "racist" such as the aforementioned reparations thread. Count how many times the racist label was thrown around there. Conversely, RWers tend to label anyone who suggests a social program like expanding Medicare as "socialist" or "Marxist". The main problem is misuse and overuse of such labels to the point they are meaningless. Calling someone a Nazi used to mean something. Now it's just standard LW rhetoric which has been watered down by overuse just like the racism label has been.

Yes, there are racists, bigots, Nazis and Socialists, but labeling as such simply for disagreeing waters down the meaning of those labels.
I couldn't agree more. I will even confess to calling people marxists when they suggest redistributing wealth from the haves to the have-nots via government. There are acceptable degrees of such things required for an orderly society. All sides would benefit by ratcheting down the hyperbole a bit.

Here is the thing about Obama, he was really just a copy of a moderate Republican from the 70s and 80s. The anger and hatred he engendered on the right was not based on reason or policy as much as it was about who he represented and who they thought he favored. He was the perfect black man in the perfect black family with the perfect family and resume and yet they hated him for it. Now one can say that it was due to policy but when the guy is doing nothing more then promoting once standard Republican policies you have to ask yourself where is the source for all this anger, hate and vitriol. In America there are only two things that have historically generated this type of reaction, race and religion. Obama was attacked for both hence it is pretty easy to conclude that they were the source of his opposition within the rank and file.
Well, when it came to policy, they called him a socialist, and some of the more unhinged ones even called him a Marxist and a Communist, and yet he governed very much as a traditional and orthodox Keynesian.

Whereas Trump is behaving very much as a vulgar Keynesian. stimulating the economy when it had NO NEED of stimulation, as outgoing Fed Chairwoman Janet Yellen pointed out. And that can create all manner of economic maladies. Some of which are only now just starting to become apparent. Shrug.

Seriously? Well, obvious on it's face this is an absurd claim to make. I mean, come on. Right? We can all agree on that. Can't we? It's like trying to claim something like the sun doesn't rise in the morning. Anyone seeing the sun up in the sky knows it not true. Similarly, anyone that's engaging in discussions where they're disagreeing with a liberal without being called a racist most know this. Right? So then, why would anyone that isn't being called a racist in real time while disagreeing with a liberal claim it happens every time?
Trump's a racist. His supporters just deny it to somehow make themselves feel better. It's hard to debate a Trump supporter without it coming up. Especially when they condone his racist statements and bigoted behavior. My view is that if you support this racist President then why would you question someone accusing you of racism. If you make the statement that nothing is wrong with dumping brown people in sanctuary cities then you are most likely a racist.

Not until you clearly deny you've never called anyone racist.
I'm not the topic. I gave you this one chance to redress your objections to something you claimed I posted. Just this once because it's relevant to the actual topic. Turns out you're just making shit up. Don't go calling people out making vile accusation and telling bald-face lies about them next time.

It's a transparent attempt to marginalize legitimate accusations of racism. Pretty lame one at that, given how that particular talking point flies against observable fact.

It doesn't happen every time = it doesn't happen at all? Surely that's not what you're getting at is it? Otherwise why create a thread to call out something you already know most folks would probably agree with isn't happening 100% of the time?

You've been involved with or have seen discussions over the border wall or voter IDs that ended up with a liberal calling a conservative a racist because they see both subjects differently haven't you?
