It was the same in Australia. We lost a generation in that mess.

I don't recall any WWI statues anywhere. Were they never erected or have they been removed?
No, they are still out there. Google up Spirit of the American Doughboy. Quite a few war memorials, in many towns, kind've morphed into a WW1/WW2 combo or into a memorial for all conflicts.

I gather those in Vancouver are not in the state of Washington. Seems to me Canadian (and probably Australian) people are more aware than US people of WWI monuments.
