40 years ago they said - the oil will run out in 30 years.
30 years ago they said - the oil will run out in 30 years.
20 years ago they said - the oil will run out in 30 years.
10 years ago they said - the oil will run out in 30 years
Today they say - the oil will run out in 30 years.
And they say: "that's why we must raise the price for oil".

Same with the climate.
1972 they said - we have 10 years to save the climate.
1980 they said - we have 10 years to save the climate.
1996 they said - we have 10 years to save the climate.
2006 they said - we have 10 years to save the climath.
And now they say - we have 10 years to save the climate.
And they say: "that's why we must raise the taxes".

It is true that some want to use the climate change to create wealth or power they can control, and that is both despicable and inevitable.

It is also true the science is evolving and confusing. Personally, I don't recall anyone claiming we'd run out of oil, but I concede your general point.

Nonetheless, the planet is in trouble from the POV of human survival. Maybe you don't care if humans become extinct, which is not irrational.

But assuming you do care, it's worth trying to learn how human activity impacts the earth so you can accept or reject policies that affect the environment.

Meanwhile, doing nothing is also not irrational.

My only objection to the behavior of others on this is that it is immoral to support policies that enrich a few at the cost of great environmental damage, such as coal mining.

We'll reach maximum carrying load for the human population soon. Odds are, some pandemic will wipe us out inside the next few decades.

Eat, drink and be merry.

I don't remember the little kid ever expressing anything about the world running out of oil.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone ever talk about the world running out of oil.

Has anyone heard anyone talking about running out of oil?

Burning fossil fuels creates smog that makes our lives shitty, affects people's health, and causes havoc on weather systems which has severe health and economic consequences. People concerned about that would probably WISH we were running out of them.

Yup. If human extinction isn't in the cards, human misery sure is.

How about waiting 12 years?. If the world ends ,ya have nothing to worry about. Won't be here. If it doesn't end ,ya know they were lying and this kid was scared over nothing.

ROFL. Nothing like seeing hundreds of adults severely upset by a Swedish 16 year old schoolgirl in pigtails.

It kinda tells you who the real adults are, doesn't it?
