This guy is pretty off the beaten track in relation to the American junk-food political system, but I think he makes a good point about the rather obvious divide-and-conquer strategies being used against us. I'm going to try and stop bickering with people, even when they bicker with me. Bickering helps those who would like to hold office but do not care to govern. Because if we're bickering, we're not unifying to hold them accountable.

Yes.

Part of this, is our own fault.

Part of this, is due to the fact that our Media gets far better "ratings" by pushing division, and unvetted stories.

And, part of this, is due to the fact that the Aristocrats of BOTH parties have staked out their "territories," and in exactly the same manner as Aristocrats of history, they seek to use the people, as pawns, in their battles for power. When one side of the other "wins," the LEADERS (aka Aristocrats) take most of the "spoils" for themselves, feeding only more divisiveness and angst to the common people who fight their battles for them.

BUT!

No matter the outcome of this election, the People are starting to see this scenario for what it is, and there are very strong anti-establishment movements growing in both factions.

I think its a product of the boomers. They have everyone and everything neatly organized in a box and if there is any deviation, it resorts in name calling. I suspect it comes from their education during the Cold War, maybe a survival thing. The younger generations don't seem to have that same sort of hate, they would vote for someone in the Capn Crunch party if they liked their proposals. They didn't grow up with all those pressures of being an organized entity, they have been able to be anything they wanted and accepted each other. Older people have always barricaded themselves into "I don't like you because you are a (commie, gay, black, socialist, capitalist basically fill in the blank). Younger people don't do that and that's why you see them more or less getting along and hanging out with odd sorts that make older people do a double take. Hopefully they wont be corrupted.

Agreed.

And what's the difference here to the above statement ?

If media gets it's ratings based on unvetted stories and pushing division.. it's because "we" tune in on that, rather than on transparent news stories.
Which also, is our OWN fault, imo.

I can't blame the media for going where the ratings are.. I blame us as a society .. we are the ones deciding what gets good ratings.

True but if you notice all the anti establishment movement is either coming from younger people or social "misfits." People who suddenly are being chastised as "uneducated" after decades of being tradesmen. People who are squares that don't fit in the neat circle box in one way or the other.

Both of you are wrong as usual. Brand Coke has to squash brand Pepsi like a bug or it takes all the fun out of politics.

But why? When did it become bad to be an individual or march to your own drum? You know things this country was founded on.
