If the federal government is releasing migrants on US soil , with protected status, that would make us a "Sanctuary Nation".

Just sayin.

Wrong again. They are NOT protected. If they miss their court date,as 100% do,they are lawbreakers. But they usually commit at least misdemeanors before that.

Easy. People illegally crossing the BORDER. They are LAWBREAKERS. But a Dem Judge said we can't hold 'em more than 20 days. So. Just release 'em? Or send them where they get SANCTUARY?
That ruling came down under the Clinton administration. And it wasn't a Dem judge it was the US Supreme Court. The most recent ruling was by a judge that was just as harsh towards the Obama administration.

But the federal government under Trump is providing sanctuary in the US until their trial.

Flores? Rotten decision.Does the USA need caravan after caravan until we have ALL of El Salvador and Honduras here? To go WHERE? To do WHAT? Our economy can't use 12 MILLION unskilled people who speak a foreign language. And please spare me the "This is a Nation of Immigrants". In the 1800's ,there was a huge demand for laborers. Maybe the "World" needs ditch diggers . But the US economy has no place for 'em. NOT Financially Viable.

Flores v Reno was decided during the Clinton administration. Since then , every administration has found a way to comply with the ruling - until Trump. Our asylum laws already designate a specified number of applicants per year . That number takes economic impact into consideration. The Trump DHS study concluded that refugees : “‘contributed an estimated $269.1 billion in revenues to all levels of government’ between 2005 and 2014 through the payment of federal, state and local taxes. ‘Overall, this report estimated that the net fiscal impact of refugees was positive over the 10-year period, at $63 billion.’” https://www.upwardlyglobal.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/RefugeesContribute_StrategiesforSkilledRefugeeIntegration.pdf

I mean , since you brought it up.
