Beyoncé and Jay-Z to be honored by GLAAD

https://www.cnn.com/2019/03/11/entertainment/beyonce-jay-z-honored-glaad/index.html

GLAAD, a media advocacy organization for people who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and/or queer, announced on Monday that the power couple will be honored at the GLAAD Media Awards later this month.
The Carters will receive the organization's Vanguard Award, which acknowledges individuals who have made a "significant difference in promoting acceptance of LGBTQ people." Previous recipients include Jennifer Lopez, Cher, Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldeberg and Britney Spears.

Why would a gay advocacy group honor such a blatant homophobe, This misogynistic, sexist, bigoted homophobe would be the last person one would think would be honored by the people he thinks less of.

I have no idea why, I see what you mean. But I suspect contributions might move a person up the honorable list.

Just because he wrote it doesn't necessarily mean that it's him giving his personal opinion about things. Is every character in a book expressing the personal opinions of the author? If two characters in a book get into an argument about something, which one represents the author's opinion? Both? Neither?

Is there a special rule about songs that every word has to be the true feelings of the author?

So does that make it better or worse? glorifying sexism and homophobia is bad. What you are saying is a white d00d can sing songs about national socialism but not mean it and it would be ok?

Well I think it definitely makes it better if every word you sing isn't autobiographical. Otherwise, people would think Johnny Cash really did shoot "a man in Reno just to watch him die".

National socialism? Is that what this is about? Your favorite single isn't getting enough airplay? Why would you not just use the same standard for white people as black people? John (Cougar?) Mellencamp used the N word in a song and Mark Knopfler & Eminem both come to mind for using the term "faggot" in songs. The latter even had the support of Elton John after the outcry over the use of the term, so I can see why you didn't want to compare apples to apples—because it didn't cost any of them their careers.

Why the insults? Have I insulted you? Maybe I should now accuse you of being a pedophile given there is as much evidence that I am a "national socialist" as there is you like little boys. Why can't we just have an adult conversation without hurling insults?
