That sucks for Smith. By all reports she is a good senator. She was well liked in the MN house and now is being primaried by a former republican. One who likes Dick Cheney by the way. Big strike against him I would think.

Don't know anything about her. Does she want to stay and run on her own?

Nothing wrong with competition. At least Painter is self-motivated to serve and isn't just some wild-eyed lefty being promoted by forces outside of the Democratic Party. What do you mean by "likes Dick Cheney"? Could you provide a citation to back up that incredibly non-specific assertion?

We'll see. As long as it's a Dem.

Showing us all, once again, there is little to no difference between establishment Republicans and Democrats.

Showing us all, once again, there is little to no difference between establishment Republicans and Democrats.

Except, of course, for each and every policy issue that they support. But then, what's a bunch of policy wonk nonsense, when you can instead cast your vote based solely upon pop culture celebrity?

Painter believes Trump should be impeached, Smith will wait and see.

“We are well past the point where the House and the Senate convened hearings on the Watergate scandal," Painter told reporters. Minnesota state senator and small business owner Karin Housley is the only major Republican candidate in the race against Smith thus far. Housley criticized Painter's calls to impeach President Trump, warning that his entrance will force Smith to the left in the Democratic primary and cause trouble for her in the general election."
