Buttigieg vows to seek repeal of post-9/11 war powers resolution
The Afghanistan War veteran drew sharp distinctions with President Donald Trump in his first major foreign policy speech as a 2020 Democratic candidate.
By Josh Lederman

"BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Pete Buttigieg committed Tuesday to putting the United States back in the Iran nuclear deal and the Paris climate agreement if elected president and pledged to support a repeal of the war powers resolution passed after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the first major foreign policy and national security speech by a 2020 Democratic candidate."
"Buttigieg, an Afghanistan War veteran, chided President Donald Trump for conducting foreign policy “impulsively, erratically, emotionally,” including what he described as exchanging “love letters” between the president and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un."
"Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, has been leaning in on his background as an intelligence officer in the Navy Reserve to illustrate his readiness to serve as commander in chief despite being only 37 years old. Neither Biden nor Trump served in the military; both received deferments during the Vietnam War."

Mayor Buttigieg is speaking out on the items that need to be brought forth to the American people. No doubt there will be more discussions on that as well as the differences between the present administration and what he plans to do as president. He is young, has a very good understanding of the issues, is savvy, intelligent, qualified and no doubt he will go far in this presidential race.

I agree it's time to do away with the AUMF. If there's an actual attack on the US from another country, there are means at any president's disposal to retaliate without waiting for Congress to convene and give permission. Eliminating the AUMF would just put an end to open ended conflicts being allowed without any input from lawmakers.

The Good Mayor will never see the White House.

Infact, he will NEVER poll ahead of Biden, Sanders, or Warren.

His imaginary policies are meaningless.

I agree with him on the war powers act. However the Iran Nuclear Deal, Paris Climate Accord and his position on the Electoral College are all hard passes from me.
