Mr. Not,

All life would cease without CO2. Sounds like you life is based on CO2.

That life on Earth as we know it could not exist were there no carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is not at issue. We all know that to be true. What is at issue is whether or not the president knows the difference between carbon and carbon dioxide.

Mr. Not,

That is the issue that you and other dishonest liberals made up. The question really is whether carbon dioxide is the basis of life....you know like it says in the title of your thread. And of course, the answer is yes, it is the basis of life. Without it, there would be no life.

That it is necessary for life is not at issue. Oxygen is also a necessity, as is water. That doesn't mean that we have a hydrogen or an oxygen based life on Earth.

I know you must, just must protect Trump from his silliness, but you're really reaching here, and when you say that we "dishonest liberals" are making stuff up, even when it's Trump's own words that have been posted, you really have no choice but to resort to playing word games.

Mr. Dittohead,

Then why is that the subject of your top post?

And it is you that have to resort to playing word games, parsing every statement down to the nth degree, but ignoring that the general statement is 100% correct. Also, notice in your link, not even Greenpeace disagrees. If you read their statement, they only take issue with the President saying Mr. Moore is a founding member of Greenpeace, not with the statement by Mr. Moore (not the President).

The subject of the OP is:

carbon dioxide is the main building block of all life.

Not: carbon dioxide is necessary for life as we know it.

and if you want to take issue with Mr. Moore's statement, be my guest.

It IS the main building block of all life.

All life that we know is carbon based. Silicon based life is also a potential, but since that doesn't exist, they really are equivalent.

Carbon dioxide is not the building block of all life.

Carbon is. Big difference.

That’s like saying we are made of 60% H2O2, and then when it’s pointed out that that is hydrogen peroxide, saying “same difference”

I tried to point that out earlier, but they ignored that inconvenient truth.
