China Reiterates That US Must Lift All Tariffs

1. At the meeting, China is expected to keep its bottom lines before trade talks could resume: all US tariffs must be removed; US’ request for Chinese purchases must be reasonable; the potential agreement must respect China’s dignity and sovereignty and be a balanced one. China will also likely demand the US to stop targeting Chinese tech firms such as Huawei and those involved in supercomputer, according to Chinese experts close to the government....

“The fox may turn gray, but never kind,” said Mei Xinyu, a research fellow at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation. “Wielding the stick before negotiations is a typical trick of Trump. The regrettable thing is that after back-and-forth all these while, they still haven’t realized that it will not work with China.”

China will not bow down to pressure and if the US went ahead with the additional tariffs, China may immediately retaliate by deploying tools such as further raising tariffs on US goods and restricting rare earths exports to the US, according to experts. China could also target specific US companies that hurt Chinese interest by putting them on the unreliable entity list.....

2. (Bloomberg) -- China continues to stress that the U.S. must remove all the tariffs placed on Chinese goods as a condition for reaching a trade deal.

On Friday, an influential blog connected to state media said the talks will “go backward again” without that step, echoing the line from Ministry of Commerce’s weekly briefing on Thursday....

3. After a year of trade talks, China seems more confident and experienced in dealing with Donald Trump, the king of flip-flops.

...PolitiFact, a fact-checking website, has tracked Trump’s promises since his campaign began. Out of 102 promises on its Trump-o-Meter scorecard, 33 are currently stalled and seven broken, while only nine have been kept and seven ended with a compromise.

...Trump has trouble keeping some of his promises for the same reason as his predecessors: He’s only the president.

Though candidates — and voters — sometimes forget it, the president has no real authority to force Congress to take action on a specific issue, other than to issue broad veto threats and barnstorm for his proposals.

4. Donald Trump has stressed that any deal with China cannot be 50-50. Moreover, many Americans in the US intelligence, military, political parties, mass media, academic circles, etc are extremely hostile to China. For instance, Marco Rubio has been actively using legislative power with bipartisan consensus to thwart any effort by Trump to reach a compromise in the US-Sino trade talks.

Bipartisan lawmakers seem to have found out that it is not a bad idea to keep a scandal-hit president in power as they can keep a tight rein on him and "whip" him like a horse once he gets out of control. With the real bosses behind him "putting him on reins", Trump's promise will end up as a bounced cheque. :)

China is full of it. They are the ones who are stealing technology and screwing us on trade. They are the reason that North Korea has nukes. However if they have announced that we “must lift all tariffs”, then what choice do we have but to keep taking it up the ass? I mean if they told us what to do, I guess that means we are stuck. They are China and we are only America. Damn that Trump for not being nice to them. Next thing you know Trump is going to tell them they have to pay for the lube.

How is Trump keeping an econmomy that GDP growth rate is 70% higher than Obama's 1.6% GDP growth Trumps economy GDP is growing at 2.9%, and even growting faster this year... Slow first quarter but that was due to people spending Big last Christmas season. 2nd Quarter has exploded.

You're aware the we sold NK nuclear reactors? Yup, an utterly bipartisan affair initiated under the Clinton administration and followed through on under the Bush administration. Sold from a company that Rumsfeld had once sat on the board of directors of. And Bush ponied up ~$90M of US taxpayer money to close the deal. You/we helped pay for that.

How far off do you think our next crash is? Half the country never recovered from the last one after we bailed out the aristocracy with socialism.

The day, that a democrat is elected president. Worst Economy since 1929 Obamanomics average 1.5% GDP GRowth.... even HOOVER's economy was better

Worst Recovery in US history, OBAMANOMICS

More new money was pringed from 2009-2015 than was printed from 1981-2008.

Stimulus failed. Remember the Bailout to keep Chrysler and GM from going bankrupt... Feb 2009, Obama gave GM and Chrysler money to prevent bankruptsy.... 4 months later June of 2009.. GM AND CRYSLER FILED BANKRUPTSY... Thank God for a Reagan appointed Judge that restructured the companies, and save 2 of the Big 3
