(CNN)Special counsel Robert Mueller's approval rating for handling the Russia investigation stands at 50% in a new CNN Poll conducted by SSRS. That outpaces President Donald Trump's approval rating on the matter by 20 points. The poll is CNN's first since the conviction of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort on tax and bank fraud charges stemming from Mueller's investigation and guilty pleas from Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen on several charges after an investigation that Mueller had referred to the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. read more here.

in a perfect world Trump's friends over at Fox News would tell him that his campaign against Mueller isn't working. Instead, we have Sean Hannity presuming to predict that Trump will fire Mueller after the midterms. Read about it here. When was the last time we had a journalist behaving like they're part of the WH cabinet? Imagine that. Mueller has managed to poll higher than Trump without doing a single news media interview or making any other public statement. It might have something to do with the average American being impressed with the professional manner he's carrying himself. Well. That. Plus Trump getting up everyday and reliving his version of a "Perry Mason moment" on twitter.

Look who's taking the poll, CNN. What a shocker, a poll with mostly Liberals giving their opinion. Probably the same pollster that said Hillary was going to win by a land slide against Trump. Mueller hasn't found any collusion with the Trump team, time to fire Mueller and put this train wreck behind us. Its a waste of tax payers money

The study was conducted for CNN via telephone by SSRS, an independent research company. Interviews were
conducted from September 06, 2018 to September 09, 2018

A total of 1,003 adults were interviewed by telephone nationwide by live interviewers calling both landline and cell
phones. Interviews were conducted in English and Spanish. Among the entire sample,

34% described themselves as Democrats,
25% described themselves as Republicans, and
40% described themselves as independents or members of another party.

Nearly half of Americans in the poll (47%) say the President ought to be impeached and removed from office, and among those who say Trump did direct Cohen to make the payment to Daniels, 69% say he ought to be impeached. Support for impeachment has risen since June, when 42% said Trump should be removed from office. That increase comes almost entirely among independents -- 48% now say the President ought to be impeached, up from 38% in June -- who have also soured on Trump's job performance generally
