CNN is likely to be hit with a massive lawsuit worth more than $250 million over alleged “vicious” and “direct attacks” on Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann, his lawyer has told Fox News.

Lawyer L. Lin Wood discussed his decision to sue CNN for its reporting and coverage of his client during an interview that will air on Fox News Channel’s “Life, Liberty & Levin” on Sunday at 10 p.m. ET.

“CNN was probably more vicious in its direct attacks on Nicholas than The Washington Post. And CNN goes into millions of individuals' homes,” Wood told Fox News host and best-selling author Mark Levin.

It's far past time that these fake news MSM outlets be held accountable for their lies and attacks on innocent Americans.

There is a reason these fake news MSM outlets are considered the Enemy of the American people and this latest attack on innocent Americans participating in this Country's political processes is just another clear example.

Anybody can be sued for just about anything. Suing a news organization for shoddy reporting doesn't have a very high percentage chance for success.

Believe quite a number of news media organizations fucked-up/distorted the coverage of that whole event with the Covington students at the Lincoln Memorial. That initial image of "the smarmy kid smirking at the innocent old native American victim" was just too good to resist. (full disclosure: i bit on it.)

Lots of distorted reporting. Some news agencies retracted. Some didn't. Is what it is.

Probably time to move on.

TO me this is a bit more than "distorted" reporting. This was straight up negligence and clearly targeted. I think it will be settled out of court, however.

LOL... the loudest whiner about fake news on the site didn't even notice that his source titled the article "CNN to be sued for more than $250M..." even though the article leads off with "CNN likely to be hit with massive lawsuit worth more than $250 million..."

Hilarious.

If the suit makes it into the courts that will be the focus of the battle. CNN will contend any errors in reporting were just simply mistakes that can occur with any story. The Covington student's lawyers with claim malice aforethought and libel/slander/criminal intent.

The bar is set pretty high regarding news agencies and their first amendment privleges. (Correctly so.) The burden of proof is going to be quite large in favor of CNN. Suspect there would need to be bombshell emails or insider testimony within CNN that there was some kind of a conspiracy to lie and discredit the students.

As you suggest, there is certainly a possibility of an out of court settlement. Allowing CNN to stop any bleeding/bad public relations. But we can be pretty sure they (CNN) would only do that with a loud disclaimer admitting no guilt in the event.

Wood continued: “The CNN folks were online on Twitter at 7 a.m retweeting the little one-minute propaganda piece that had been put out. … They're out there right away going after this young boy. And they maintain it for at least two days. Why didn't they stop and just take an hour and look through the Internet and find the truth and then report it? Maybe do that before you report the lies.”
