Congress/FCC should create minimum standards for businesses claiming protection under First Amendment.

Obviously a touchy subject but propaganda outlets should not be able to broadcast intentional lies by hiding behind !st Amendment protections.
Only the real "Press" should have freedom thereof!

Thoughts?

The "press" is not limited to print media, nor should it be. That would make no sense.

Meant all "Press"....print and broadcast.
Fox News is pure propaganda and it's hurting our country and democracy in general.

We didn't allow Tokyo Rose to broadcast in America during WWII either!

So you are for doing away with the first amendment?

To accomplish your goal, that's what would have to happen.

They would need to sensor you for all the lies you keep telling.

Was this ever an issue? Was there a radio station in the US that wanted to carry Tokyo Rose and was prevented from doing so by the governnment?

And you as well. I think you both would be in the same boat.

The real press, as defined, is essentially anyone with a cell phone and a willingness to report facts to the public.

The concept of needing a proper permit to be considered press is antithetical to that intent.

As it stands, even the political correctness is bordering on too much censorship, and sometimes crosses lines.

Ultimately, outside of criminal activity, there's no real justification for censorship.

Nah, I disagree with you on this one. As bad as the propaganda might be on some alternative media sources, it's better to endure it than to limit free expression.

Indeed Trump should appoint Tucker Carlson head of the FCC, declare some kind of an emergency, unilaterally declare CNN, NBC and NY Times as #fakenews and revoke their corporate charters immediately. If there is anything that should command universal assent, it's that the government should be the arbiter of what is and isn't true.
