Depends.

Given the abduction accounts they do not necessarily sound friendly.

For all you know we may be a science experiment quarantined to Earth because we are so dangerous.

As of now we are no threat but there probably is a reason so many sightings occur around military and research facilities.
That idea is known as 'the Zoo Hypothesis' as an explanation for the Fermi Paradox. But, oddly enough, there has been no attempt to stop us from sending space probes into the outermost reaches of our Solar System.

Are they going to try to stop us from sending a flotilla of tiny spacecraft to Alpha Centauri, a plan that is underway?

So, if we don't blow ourselves up or kill everyone off in a cataclysmic biological catastrophe, we just might be able to colonize the galaxy unopposed.

But first we'll have to learn to quit killing each other off I don't see a whole lot of progress in that area.
"We just might be able to colonize the galaxy unopposed."

YES!! That's exactly it!

So let's NOT blow ourselves up first!

Possibly.

I don't think launching space probes would really be considered a threat.

They probably won't make first contact until they discover our first warp signature.
