Everyone is so worried about HRC's ties to Wall Street and such and the news media completely misses this.

But let’s not pretend that this foundation is somehow a unique example of the corruption of philanthropy by politics. These two worlds intersect all the time. Indeed, Judicial Watch, the nonprofit organization that’s been driving the news lately with its attacks on Clinton is entirely a creature of philanthropy, supported by donors who in some cases have a direct financial interest in who controls the White House. Meanwhile, the nonprofit organization that serves as a platform for Peter Schweizer, who’s also led the attack on the Clinton Foundation, starting with his book Clinton Cash, is heavily supported by the foundation of Robert Mercer, the hedge funder who has been the single largest donor to GOP candidates in this election cycle. If GOP tax plans were enacted, Mercer would save many millions of dollars. In turn, philanthropists on the left support nonprofits that work in close coordination with elected Democrats.
Once Again, the Media Gets It Wrong on the Clinton Foundation ? Inside Philanthropy

Why don't we know about that? Damn liberal media!

Yeah, the tangled web of what organizations support what people going after who isn't usually that tangled at all. Similar thing with watchdog.org too.

Okay, I won't pretend that it's unique.

But, like the problem with fraternization between boss and underling, it's the kind of thing that Democrats have been aware of as a problem forever and ever and they supposedly care about protecting against that kind of conflict of interest and potential for inappropriate coercion -- and the Clintons assured us that they were ever vigilant about that kind of conflict of interest with their foundation -- but Democrats can't afford to care in a practical sense.

In 8 years, Democrats will care again about this kind of corruption.

They just can't afford to now.

I'm not judging you, Babba ... but this kind of entitled crap from the Clintons and other leading Democrats who are supposed to be standard bearers for the power of government to do good ... this is why Democrats can't even get traction against the likes of Donald Trump. Democrats should find it easy to show that they are significantly better than Republicans and their culture of corporate greed, but Democrats have utterly failed to make that case. And they can't afford to make it now, because they would be indicting the Clintons in the effort.

It's in the MSM's interests to keep this race "appearing to be" as close as possible for viewership.

Since the early 1970's the MSM has been more interested in profit than they are in providing a public service.

Not in any real way. Neither will Republicans. The only thing parties care about is attaining power or keeping power. If it takes a little corruption, then so be it. It's always been like that and we keep making it easier for it to be that way.

Of course the Republicans won't. But the Democrats make a big show out of caring.

Except they can't make a big show now.

In 8 years, they'll again feel they have breathing room to make a show. For now they're playing defense because their standard bearer is the symbol of why it's important to draw hard-and-fast lines and protect them vigilantly. The symbol of how even the most dedicated public servant can succumb to alarming practices when they let their guard down.

it's been more obvious this election than it usually is too. If anyone has any doubt that the media is profit driven they just aren't paying in attention. Watch the lead off on the different networks. Today, for instance, the lead on Fox News was Donald Trump being one point ahead in one of the polls (the ABC poll). Of course, they never mentioned that Trump has been saying this poll is rigged for weeks now. While, on MSNBC and CNN they're barely mentioning that poll. If they do, they play it down. Fox News also reports on the wiki leaks in full detail. While the other networks don't. We all just have to watch with a critical eye.

Both parties make a big show of being against corruption or calling the other side out for their corruption and downplaying their own. That's the game. That's one of the methods of keeping or attaining power. That won't ever change.

That's why there are so many independents. Neither side does anything. Its all about being in charge and once they get that, they seem to forget about us. Probably why anger and frustration is mounting as well.

That's why the Issy award for journalism is so important. Journalism is the fourth estate, or 4th branch of government and part of the balance of powers. When the other 3 branches of government become corrupt, we need the media to explain to us what is going on.

Ironically, Obama is threatening and going after journalists who publish government crimes discovered by whistleblowers.
