Donald Trump isn't happy about the news that the "Central Park five" are getting a $40 million settlement after they were wrongfully convicted of raping a jogger 25 years ago.
The five black and Latino men, who were then teens, were convicted in 1989 of raping a 28-year-old woman in Central Park. But DNA evidence and a confession by a serial rapist later cleared Antron McCray, Korey Wise, Kevin Richardson, Yusuf Salaa and Raymond Santana in 2002, after the five had spent as long as 13 years in prison.
In an op-ed published in the New York Daily News on Saturday, Trump calls the settlement a "disgrace."

My opinion on the settlement of the Central Park Jogger case is that it’s a disgrace. A detective close to the case, and who has followed it since 1989, calls it “the heist of the century.”
Settling doesn’t mean innocence, but it indicates incompetence on several levels. This case has not been dormant, and many people have asked why it took so long to settle? It is politics at its lowest and worst form.

Trump doesn't directly say he thinks the men are actually guilty of the crime they were wrongfully convicted of, but he does say, "These young men do not exactly have the pasts of angels."

The five men initially confessed to the crime, but they recanted their confession at trial and said it was brought about after they were coerced by police officers who did not allow their parents to be present during their lengthy and exhausting interrogation, according to Democracy Now.

What the fuck does Donald Trump have to do with this case???
At the time they were first arrested, he was leading the charge in calling for their executions.

On May 1, 1989, Donald J. Trump took out full-page advertisements in four New York newspapers calling for the return of the death penalty. Mr. Trump said he wanted the ''criminals of every age'' who were accused of beating and raping a jogger in Central Park 12 days earlier ''to be afraid.''
Trump Draws Criticism for Ad He Ran After Jogger Attack - NYTimes.com

I think Donald Trump is a disgusting human being and always has been.

DNA has exonerated all five of these kids and to continue to demonize them is just fucking evil.

On the night of April 19, 1989, a 28-year-old female jogger was brutally attacked and raped in New York’s Central Park. She was found unconscious with her skull fractured, her body temperature at 84 degrees, and 75 percent of her blood drained from her body. When she recovered, she had no memory of the assault. Initial police investigations quickly focused on a group of African American and Latino youths who were in police custody for a series of other attacks perpetrated in the park that night.

The Confessions
After prolonged periods of police interrogation, five teenagers - Yusef Salaam, Kevin Richardson, Antron McCray, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise - confessed to being involved in the attacks. At the time, the defendants were between 14 and 16 years of age. Richardson, McCray, Sanatana, and Wise all gave videotaped confessions.

The Trials and Convictions
The confessions were presented as evidence though they differed in the time, location, and their description of the participants of the rape. At trial, the prosecutors also presented forensic evidence. A forensic analyst testified that a hair found on the victim was “similar” to Richardson’s hair “to a reasonable degree of scientific certainty.” Because there is not adequate empirical data on the frequency of various class characteristics in human hair, an analyst’s assertion that hairs are similar is inherently prejudicial and lacks probative value. Also presented as evidence was a rock found near the scene of the crime that had blood and hair on it; evidence that was believed to have come from the victim.

The following year, all five teenagers were convicted, in two separate trials, of charges stemming from the attack. Then 16 years old, Korey Wise, was tried as an adult and convicted of assault, sexual abuse, and riot. He was sentenced to five to fifteen years.

In early 2002, Matias Reyes, a convicted murderer and rapist, admitted that he alone was responsible for the attack on the Central Park jogger. Reyes had already committed another rape near Central Park days earlier in 1989, using the same modus operandi. The victim of that rape had described the rapist as having fresh stitches in his chin and an investigator quickly linked Reyes to this description. Although the police had Reyes’s name on file, they failed to connect Reyes to the rape and assault of the Central Park jogger.

The Exonerations
Eventually, the evidence from the crime was subjected to DNA testing. The DNA profile obtained from the spermatozoa found in the rape kit matched the profile of Reyes. Mitochondrial DNA testing on the hairs found on one of the defendants revealed that the hairs were not related to the victim or the crime. Further testing on hairs found on the victim also matched Reyes. Neither blood nor the hair found on a rock near the crime scene matched the victim. The evidence corroborated Reyes’s confession to the crime and is consistent with the other crimes committed by Reyes. He is currently serving a life sentence for those crimes.

On December 19, 2002, on the recommendation of the Manhattan District Attorney, the convictions of the five men were overturned. Wise served 11.5 years in prison for crimes he did not commit.

False confessions have lead to the convictions of hundreds of innocent people including the Norfolk Four and the West Memphis three and need to be put under more scrutiny.

I can't think of anything more horrible than being convicted of a crime you didn't commit. Donald Trump is an utter pig for caring more about his own ego than the wasted lives of people who are falsely convicted. Why NBC allows him to have a television show when he's got no morals whatsoever is beyond me.

Donald Trump wanted to be president -- and was able to find a few people to entertain the idea.

What he seems to be saying is that, although the Central Park 5 are innocent of THIS crime, they probably committed other crimes and so redressing their wrongful incarceration injury is wasteful as they did not deserve it.

That's a stunning failure to grasp the rudiments of due process, fair play and justice.

He should crawl back into whatever reality tv show hole he lives in and STFU.
