Support for raising taxes is widespread, according to a new poll, which found that 76% of registered voters want the wealthiest Americans to pay more.

Americans also have a preference as to what a tax increase should look like, according to the Politico/Morning Consult survey.

Politico found that 61% of Americans are in favor of a “wealth tax”proposed by Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren from Massachusetts, which would increase taxes on those with a net worth of $50 million or more. Less favorable, but with a sizable support of 45%, is a plan by New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, which includes a 70% marginal tax rate on income more than $10 million. She is also a contender for the Democratic nomination to run for president

Ooops
A 70% tax on those making a 140,000 Don't want AOC left out of her goals.

The Walmart heirs make $4 million an hour.

A new Walmart associate makes $11 an hour.
Intentionally contributing to the idiocy of her gullible followers, conflating wages with stock price fluctuations like this.

My two-cent wealth tax on families like the Waltons would help level the playing field for working families and rebuild the middle class.
No it wouldn't. People outside the labor force who are among the poorest in our country are not in any way inherently helped by a wealth tax on the Waltons. The federal government could spend money in ways that materially improve the conditions of these people (albeit usually temporarily), but that can be done regardless of whether there is any wealth tax.

Further, Warren should be required to explain why her tax ideas would not cause the problems economists like Piketty (who are actually pro-wealth tax) warn about, referencing failed examples from his home country and others.

These populist proposals are for pure idiots who would rather blindly root for their team than be bothered to think critically. It actively makes people dumber. That's what people like Warren are doing. Trying to make people dumber. Seems to be working.

After attacking Walmart heirs, why isn’t Elizabeth Warren doing more for Harvard’s lowest-paid employees?

Warren's Husband made $400k last year from Harvard. Warren herself made another $500k.

The average Harvard janitor makes $12.75/hour, or just over $25k a year.

Why is Warren and her husband robbing those poor janitors?

Meanwhile she says college should be free. How is that going to work with professors making half a million per year?

Government will take over education tuition and professor salaries. Like Medicare, govt pays this amount per procedure. Physics professor makes 200k/ year, a sociology professor makes 45k / year.
