I recall reading about Anna Shpenova from St. Petersburg, the only known female firefighter in Russia




She been on the job since 2010, actually. Had to fight like hell, ten times as hard as any man, just to get into a squad; but she did it, earned the respect and love of her fellows

and even received a medal for heroism, for going to the 10th or 11th floor of a burning office building, by herself, to help extract an unconscious employee up there

It was her story about that rescue that I remember: the staff member, a lady, who passed out from the smoke; her utter shock, waking up to discover that the firefighter who'd carried her out of there on her shoulders is a fellow woman! :D

She has my admiration, for sure...
