Went to Blackwater Reserve on Tuesday, caught six snakeheads and fried one up for my girlfriend for dinner. Froze the rest. Only fished about two and a half hours. Used minos under a bobber.

Blackwater has a ton of snakeheads but this won't last; people will over-fish them and in a couple of years, there will hardly be any left. Best fishing day I have had in a while. Really enjoyed the beautiful weather; it was a great day to be alive. This is just a generic fishing thread, talk about any fishing you have done and have fun.

Please.....no Liberal/Con hate allowed.

Mr. Evidence,

I thought they were introduced and the game and fish is trying to get rid of them? Some idiots put northern Pike in some of California's trout lakes, so they actually first poisoned the whole lake, then drained it.

If true, overfishing is a good thing.

Some of the best eating fish are the ugliest. I've not tasted Snakehead - but apparently the reviews are in .. they GOOD!

If You Can Catch a Snakehead, Eat It | Bay Weekly

One of my favorites is VERY ugly .. The Cabezon which is a close relative of the Ling Cod.

Used to catch them off jetties on the Oregon Coast .. My biggest was around 12 pounds - about the size of one in top pic.

The fillets are quite literally a pretty Windex BLUE until cooked .. then they go tender, white and flakey! :p

They are indeed introduced. The fish he's catching are these - Channus argus

They're native to northeast Asia, and on account of their apparent tastetiness (never tried one) they've been introduced as gamefish across large parts of Europe and the US. They are voracious predators with no predators of their own in the US, and are devastating native fish populations.

No predators, that is, except for Puzzling Evidence. Fish away, sir! Wipe the fuckers out before they do more harm.

Yeah, did checked out The Google because I was curious and the consensus was the same. Catch 'em and eat 'em!

So Puzzling, is there a limit on those suckers?

Thank you for the mad props. I vehemently disagree about the damage they cause, however. Snakeheads dine mostly on small fish - minnows, bluegills, frogs and mice. I have dissected quite a few, none of witch were found to contain game fish.

Negitory (not actually a word). You are encouraged to keep as many as you like, but you mat release them back into the water. You must never transport them live.
