Former US attorneys, GOP officials come to Mueller's defense - ABC News
By Jill Colvin, Associated Press

"The 22 former U.S. attorneys, who served under presidents from Richard Nixon through Barack Obama, say it is "critical" to the "interests of justice and public trust to ensure that those charged with conducting complex investigations are allowed to do their jobs free from interference or fear of reprisal."
"Seeking Mueller's removal "would have severe repercussions for Americans' sense of justice here at home and for our reputation for fairness around the world," they wrote in a letter to President Donald Trump on Friday that was coordinated by Georgetown Law's Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection."
"Another letter signed by 22 Republican and conservative former members of Congress and other top U.S. officials says efforts to discredit Mueller's work "undermine the institutions that protect the rule of law and so our nation."

====================================================

That should send a very strong message to the Trump Administration that they need to keep Mueller and his team so that they can continue their investigation and get to the bottom of what is going on. Not only the country wants it but many leading Republicans demand it. It's time for Trump to listen carefully and dispel any notion that he would consider firing Mueller or have the appropriate person do it.

Nobody is talking about firing mueller.

Trump : "I have no intention of firing mueller"
Media : "trump announces plan to fire mueller"

Now this article is based on the assumption that a lie was the truth.

are you seriously arguing that just because Trump said it that it must be the truth? Do you have any idea how much that man lies?

He's most likely been advised that he can't fire Mueller without creating a constitutional crisis -- so he plans to fire Rosenstein instead, and replace him with someone who will fire Mueller.

That's how Tricky Dick did it.
The effect would be the same. The Saturday Night Massacre was Nixon's worst blunder.

It was generally thought that no president would ever be stupid enough to attempt something like that again.

It was also generally thought that Americans would never be stupid enough to elect someone like Donald Trump to the presidency.

If I had the option, I'd trade Trump for Nixon right now. Nixon may have been crazy, but at least he wasn't an idiot, and he had a modicum of patriotism.

What would the constitutional crisis be exactly?

Mueller would just be replaced with someone else, that hardly constitutes a crisis of any sort, except in the minds of liberals.

No, I'm saying that the media reported that trump said EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT HE SAID.

We have gone over trumps "lies" so many times already. His "lies" are the reason he's president, and has been following through on his "lies" shocking well considering the virulent opposition he's facing.

Because Trump never lies right? Ridiculous.
Not nearly as often as you claim he has lied.

More likely he's been advised that mueller has destroyed himself and to not interfere with that...
