“Were we consulted, we would have observed that routinely taking children from migrant parents was morally repugnant, counter-productive and ill-considered,” they wrote, in a letter obtained by The Independent. “We cannot tolerate association with the immigration policies of this administration, nor the illusion that we are consulted on these matters.”

The signees included Richard Danzig, the Secretary of the Navy under President Bill Clinton, and Elizabeth Holtzman, a former Democratic congresswoman. The two Obama-era officials were David Martin, a former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) deputy general counsel, and Matthew Olsen, a former director of the National Counterterrorism Centre.

a good start. Sec. Nielsen doesn't have to just do what ever Trump tells her either. She has the discretion to tell Trump she's not going to implement his policies. Based on the humanitarian crisis it's created alone. Maybe it's going to take a full scale revolt by the employees under her jurisdiction before she'll do the right thing.

The swamp be draining...
When this was happening under Øbama all was well.

Plus, many young children should not, and were not, released to these adults for good reason.

guys, guys, guys.
Clearly the main point of their resignation was that they were not consulted. They don't want their names associate with a policy that they had no input in implementing, of which they find morally repugnant. The issue here are kids being separated from their parents. It's irrelevant whether Obama also did it.

How is this "draining the swamp"? It they shouldn't have been at DHS then why didn't Trump get rid of them? What's in the record that you'd presume they were part of some swamp? They're protesting the implementation of the policy. Trump is the one that created this particular swamp. Not the people protesting it.

#Trumpcult fully supports the ripping away of the kids, that is the bottom line.

There's an old saying: "Don't let the door hit ya."

The Watchman,

And clearly nobody that matters cares what they think, that they don't want to be associated with this policy, nor that they are gone,.

and again, what's your basis for claiming we're all better off because they're gone?
