Patrick Moore, the co-founder of the environmentalist group Greenpeace, ripped into New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over the weekend as a “pompous little twit,” saying the Green New Deal plan she’s advocating is “completely crazy.”

In a series of tweets, Moore argued Ocasio-Cortez, who has called for drastically reducing fossil fuel production, doesn’t realize what would happen across the world if the radical plan were implemented.

“If fossil fuels were banned every tree in the world would be cut down for fuel for cooking and heating," Moore said in a tweet Saturday directed at Ocasio-Cortez. “You would bring about mass death.”

I wonder how many AOC fans are out there who understand what this "pompous little twit" is actually proposing?

Patrick Moore has not had any affiliation with Greenpeace since the 80's and has since become a right-wing lobbyist, trading on his background, for the logging, fossil fuels and nuclear energy industries. He's one of the most despised figures in environmentalist circles, effectively the movement's Judas. Of course you left all that out, either because none of your preferred sources spoon-fed it to you or because you chose to omit inconvenient context. Which is it?

Well .....

Aside from all that psychobabble maybe you could offer an explanation of how to feed 8 million people if AOC's plan were to be enacted.

Greenpeace Statement On Patrick Moore

July 6, 2010
Patrick Moore often misrepresents himself in the media as an environmental “expert” or even an “environmentalist,” while offering anti-environmental opinions on a wide range of issues and taking a distinctly anti-environmental stance. He also exploits long-gone ties with Greenpeace to sell himself as a speaker and pro-corporate spokesperson, usually taking positions that Greenpeace opposes.

While it is true that Patrick Moore was a member of Greenpeace in the 1970s, in 1986 he abruptly turned his back on the very issues he once passionately defended. He claims he “saw the light” but what Moore really saw was an opportunity for financial gain. Since then he has gone from defender of the planet to a paid representative of corporate polluters.
Patrick Moore promotes such anti-environmental positions as clearcut logging, nuclear power, farmed salmon, PVC (vinyl) production, genetically engineered crops, and mining. Clients for his consulting services are a veritable Who’s Who of companies that Greenpeace has exposed for environmental misdeeds, including Monsanto, Weyerhaeuser, and BHP Minerals.

Let me ask this question from all of the socialists: Why have Democrat Presidential candidates embraced AOCs Green New Deal? And, how will it be implemented? What will be the cost?

It's not psychobabble, lol. You've passed the man off as an environmentalist, when in fact he's paid by the fossil fuel industry's propaganda arm.

AOC's plan does not call for any type of enforced ban on fossil fuels that would put people in a situation where firewood would be their only option.

That's complete horseshit, same as Mr. Moore's claim to be an environmentalist.

Not quite... We, as a nation very obviously, address coal. And just as ovviously, trump decided he and his party preferred the profits in coal.

Seems other Countries are taking on the what would happen across the world if the radical plan were implemented.

======
Why is coal considered a fossil fuel?
because it takes millions of years to form, it forms from the remains of living things
Why is coal considered a fossil fuel
============

We e are 100% aware EVERY COUNTRY has to put in the effort. Our not addressing the problem, doesn't leave the ozone problem just hanging over the US

This is one big reason EU doesn't think much of us - since Trump (with good reason)

Germany

Though not the first to have considered banning petrol and diesel cars, Germany was the first to implement a ban. Back in October 2016, the country’s federal council (the Bundesrat) proposed and passed a resolution that calls for a total ban on internal combustion engines by 2030.

Norway

In February 2017, Norway decided to follow and outdo the German example. Not only is this Scandinavian country banning fossil fuel-based cars, they’ve set a target that’s five years earlier than Germany’s. By 2025, Norway will only sell cars that are 100 percent electric, doing away with petrol-based vehicles.

India

From European nations, we move to Asia, with India. The country has instituted a policy, similar to Norway’s, to allow only the sale of fully-electric cars by 2030. The effort is financed by the government. “We are going to introduce electric vehicles in a very big way. We are going to make electric vehicles self- sufficient like UJALA,” said Piyush Goyal, India’s Minister of Railways and Coal. “The idea is that by 2030, not a single petrol or diesel car should be sold in the country.”

France
The home of the historic Paris climate deal won’t be left behind, of course, as it’s set radical changes to the country’s climate goals into motion. Part of this is a ban on all petrol and diesel vehicles effective on 2040. It’s a step-by-step process, which includes having “a fleet of 2.4 million rechargeable electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as a 3% of NGV heavy duty vehicles” by 2023, according to France’s Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy.

The U.K.
If France wants it, then the U.K. wants it to. The British have introduced a ban on new diesel and petrol fuel cars by 2040, as part of a $4.06 billion initiative (£3 billion) that trickles down to local councils to improve the nation’s air quality. “Poor air quality is the biggest environmental risk to public health in the UK and this government is determined to take strong action in the shortest time possible,” a spokesperson previously told the BBC.

The Other Two
Worth adding here are two other nations that have expressed interest in curbing greenhouse emissions from cars — the Netherlands and China. The Dutch have been considering a petrol and diesel ban since April 2016, while China revealed similar plans back in September.
In case you’re double-checking if you missed the U.S. in this list, well…you didn’t. It’s still a dream. For now — or at least the next four years.

These 7 countries want to say goodbye to fossil fuel-based cars

It's rather embarrassing how the US say FU to the people at least trying.

OAC is trying - because it is the right thing to address.
