After the House of Representatives on Wednesday passed a massive spending package that includes $733 billion for the Pentagon—up from $716 billion the previous year—Rep. Rashida Tlaib slammed America's "out of control warfare budget" and said the U.S. should be investing more in programs that benefit the public, not massive defense contractors.

"These are huge checks being written to Boeing and Lockheed Martin, when we should be cutting checks to everyday people struggling to make ends meet," said Tlaib, one of just seven Democrats to vote against the trillion-dollar spending measure.

The other House Democrats who voted against the measure were Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Ayanna Pressley (Mass.), Ilhan Omar (Minn.), Denny Heck (Wash.), Collin Peterson (Minn.), and Ben McAdams (Utah).

While the $733 billion in military spending is less than the $750 billion President Donald Trump demanded in his 2020 budget request, progressives have pushed backagainst hiking the military budget without major increases in spending on education, healthcare, and other social programs. America's military budget is set to grow for a fifth consecutive year to near-historic highs in 2020.

Dems wrote it and brought it up for vote, it is a dem bill.
Yes, you're right. But the reason the Republicans voted against it, is because they wanted even MORE money for the Pentagon!

So which party is it, again, that is more concerned about the national debt?!?

The dems own the increase in spending of defense, which increases our national debt no matter how much you want to deflect or imply otherwise.

Nancy claims she wants to reduce the debt, then House dems write a bill that increases defense spending and the national debt, Nancy brings it up for a vote and it passes. Dems own this increase in the debt, they authored it.

""What bothers me is that we're talking about that instead of how to reduce the national debt," Pelosi responded, as she criticized Trump for being overly political while overseas. "

Whoa! Wait a minute!! Are you SERIOUSLY disputing that the reason the Republicans voted AGAINST this bill was because they think it was not providing ENOUGH money for defense?

Are you disputing that Trump asked for $750 billion for defense, which is MORE than what this bill authorized?

Listen, Libertine, you have become so full of SHIT lately that it is oozing out of your ears.

You know DAMN WELL that the Republicans voted AGAINST this bill because they say it is SHORT-CHANGING defense.

Go ahead, let's see you TRY to claim otherwise.

This is RIGHT in the OP: While the $733 billion in military spending is less than the $750 billion President Donald Trump demanded in his 2020 budget request,

House dems wrote and passed a bill that increased defense spending and increased the budget deficit and increased the national debt, they totally own it after dems like this one have cursed the rising debt.
