Have to wonder if he isnt sticking in as long as possible for a potential VP slot.

The Houston Chronicle editorial board has called on Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke to pull out of the 2020 race, return to Texas and run for senator.

In an editorial published over the weekend, titled, “Beto, come home. Texas needs you,” the newspaper said O’Rourke’s response to the mass shooting in his hometown of El Paso (and his subsequent criticism of President Donald Trump) made it wish he would “shift gears” and “take a new direction.”

“So Beto, if you’re listening: Come home. Drop out of the race for president and come back to Texas to run for senator,” the board wrote. “The chances of winning the race you’re in now are vanishingly small. And Texas needs you.”

Suspect Beto would have an even better chance now for a Texas Senate seat than he had against Cruz.

His name recognition is bigger than before. And i am guessing there will be a lot more money pouring in from outside sources as a result of this being a Presidential election in 2020.

He has qualified for the Sep debate so maybe he will wait and see about what happens after that. He has until December for the deadline to run for senate.

....although if Beto were able to swing the Texas electoral votes from the VP slot that would potentially be a game changer.

Not sure how certain that would be though.

Well this was just reported today

Former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper (D) is considering ending his White House bid and pursuing a Senate run instead, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

Four Democratic sources familiar with his thinking told the outlet that the two-term governor is giving serious consideration to challenging Republican Sen. Cory Gardner (Colo.), a move many have have called for in hopes of helping Democrats retake the Senate.

Hickenlooper reportedly discussed the possibility with Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), another 2020 candidate, during a drive before an event in Iowa.

Probably a wise choice by him.

Of course he is.

He couldn't even beat the garden gnome and he's polling at like 0% right now.

Why else do you think he's in there?

I just saw a commercial of that Washington guy begging people to give him a dollar so he can get into the next debate.

The democrats are utterly pathetic at this point.

Yes, Hickenlooper just wasn't getting any traction in the Presidential race. But I am vehemently hoping for Michael Bennet to make it into the 2nd round debate.

Those are BOTH guys who understand the kind of 21st century knowledge-based economy America is really going to need in the 2020's and beyond, if our nation is going to prosper in the future.

I'd hate to lose BOTH of them this early in the Presidential sorting-out.
