She just wiped the floor with a Kentucky congressman, Republican Andy Barr, who tweeted an objection to her Green New Deal by saying she should visit her district and talk to the coal miners there about taking their jobs.

She accepted the invitation.

Ocasio-Cortez told the congressman she would be "happy" to make the visit, noting that her proposal would include funding coal miners' pensions with the aim of ensuring "a just transition" and investment in jobs.
Then something interesting happened. It turns out Barr doesn't have any coal mines in his district.

there are no coal-mines in Barr's district. However, his political career has been handsomely funded by coal companies, lobbyists and financiers, which might explain how he got confused.
Perhaps the reason @RepAndyBarr rescinded his invitation for AOC to visit the coal mines in his district is that there are none?

So he rescinded the invitation because "MUSLIMS!!!"

AOC's response?

Ocasio-Cortez's spokesman, Corbin Trent, suggested in a statement to The Courier-Journal last week that the congresswoman could always visit the state on her own.

"Luckily, Kentucky has open borders," he said

Touche. I'm pretty sure this woman will be president one day.

I love the way the right wingers portray her as stupid and yet she makes fools of them all the time with her quick wit.
I love how she never makes it personal. Her detractors try to make everything about her character, but she fires back at their records on the issues and they are bound to fail. The rep who criticized Omar voted against funding for 9/11 victims, something I'm sure his constituents didn't know, but thanks to him trying to score points by bringing it up, he came off looking like a complete idiot.

I'm desperately hoping we've reached a point where people are done with the t-shirt slogan wars & ready to stop reacting to buzz words like "socialist", "illegals" or "Muslims". And the one I hate the most "clean coal". Barr's constituents, who aren't coal miners, are suffering the effects of coal mining in the form of mountaintop removal and getting zero jobs out of it.

Maybe they'll wise up.
