Just one more thing the progressives/socialists in this country get wrong.

Go figure.

Socialism does not work in practice and yet left wingers want to subject this country to this system.

This must not be allowed at all costs.

Love Praeger U videos. This gentleman is explaining that capitalism and democracy are thriving in Denmark despite its high level of spending on citizens, such as universal health care.

Exactly what American progressives are promoting.

Socialism is an economic model under which the government owns the means of production, private property is not allowed and other aspects of capitalism are absent.

Nobody in American politics is advocating we eliminate capitalism. Just restrain it.

You forgot that among the most economically successful countries like the ones in Scandinavian were ruled by social democrat parties. Germany knew also the market social Economy. All these systems work and the level of satisfaction of the people living in these countries is rather high and private or individual property was never threatened. People are ready to pay high taxes because they get a good return on them in social benefits, health, education. And when it comes to health people are in better shape and live longer than in the US with spendings much lower. You should not let your mind be poisoned by ready made thinking and look at realities and accept that the word socialism can cover many different things. And among these the fact that people can rely that they will be taken care of if sick, handicaped or old is very positive.

So you're advocating the Denmark model? That's great! Glad to hear you aren't one of those alarmists who thinks that socialism is some kind of graven-in-stone set of unchangeable rules, like the author of the OP video seems to believe. It's been said that for socialism to exist, it has to be in a free and democratic society, or it won't truly be socialism at all.

We're so glad to have you on our team! Be sure to pick up your red star pin and your membership card. We also have some pamphlets if you wouldn't mind distributing them to friends and relatives.

You are right. Socialism does not work when it is applied evenly to all of a country's society (healthcare, employment, food, etc).

But that isn't what is being suggested.

If there is a notion that because we allow a little socialism in, let's say in healthcare, that we will be opening the flood gates, so to speak - then I guess I can understand that. But there is no evidence that any of these candidates are campaigning on a top-down socialist solution.

I agree with a UHC system of sorts. And I agree with variants of plans offered. A healthier society is in a better position to be well informed - and a healthy society will drive down the cost of healthcare and dependencies on assistance.

Americans have public schools, public fire and police, some places have public transit, the military and intelligence services are public model. All of these are socialist policies.

This debate is imaginary and brainless.
