Eight out of ten Swedish municipalities will be forced to make serious cuts to local services this year due to changing demographics and costs of newly arrived migrants.
Just under half of the municipalities, 46 percent, plan cuts to disability services, while 50 percent say they will be making spending cuts in individual and family care in order to save money, Swedish broadcaster SVT reports.
Göran Eriksson, the city manager for the municipality of Bengtsfors, said that his municipality relies heavily on subsidies and other programmes from the national government and would not be able to cope with the costs of social services and welfare without them.
“We have been generous and received many new arrivals, but basically it is also a demographic problem. We have an ageing population and the municipality is shrinking,” he told the broadcaster.

But while the cheap labor may be good for Piotr, government officials and economists worry the shadow economy has begun to undercut Sweden’s economic model, whose generous welfare provisions and high wages are built on high rates of productivity and one of the world’s heaviest tax burdens.
Unions and tax officials say illegal workers have begun to push down average pay and deprive state coffers of income tax. Companies that do things by the book are struggling to compete, further depleting the tax take.
Sweden’s tax authority estimates undocumented workers cost the country at least 66 billion crowns ($7.80 billion) in lost taxes in 2015. That’s around 4 percent of public sector tax revenues.
Worried that it was struggling to integrate newcomers, Sweden introduced border controls earlier this year. It has a backlog of asylum applications which means around a two-year wait for a decision. In that time, adults receive around $8 each a day, to cover all their costs except housing.
Some find work on the side, and some who are rejected drop into the shadow economy. The Migration Agency estimates up to 10,000 asylum seekers per year will choose to disappear from their radar rather than being deported. Around 30,000 to 50,000 undocumented immigrants already work in industries like construction, hotels, transport and restaurants, it estimates.

In contrast to what?

This seems to what you and the BILLIONAIRE Trump have wanted all along. Less for others, MORE for the greedy wealthy.

The reason communism failed in the U.S.S.R. is because the idea of a classless society never worked and it never worked because there always had to be a class of people who enforce all the things that would make it classless. If a society is intended to have no different classes, it can't start out with two classes of people, the enforced and the enforcers. That set up immediately exacerbated what already happens in a societies where unbridled capitalism has everyone, especially the greed, ripping off their fellow human beings in any way they can, capitalizing on the ignorance of some, the guillability of others and even those who are greedy, like themselves, because the greedy will buy into anything that looks like it a profit to them (a large reason some have voted for Trump). Scandanavian nations have elements of both capitalism and socialism. There are still companies and people who profit and can become wealthy, but "the people" (their governments) also recognized places where "the people" can benefit better from things done by public contribution than depending on individuals to all do the right thing, when left to their own devices.

No matter what nation and what society, over time there will be changes and shifts in all kinds of things that will precipitate the need for change, from adjustments to a full change of direction.

As the former U.S.S.R. the enforcement class became ripe for corruption and taking bribes to "look the other way" from the rules, were part of what led to the downfall of the Soviet Union. Now, oligarchs continue the corruption and further divide Russia into something closer to what we have been heading toward. The haves and the have nots, with too many of the haves, being greedy and gluttonous, which also helps to made the rift between the haves and the have nots, even larger.

If it weren't for some of those who honestly make their fortunes and pass most of their excess along to those in need, we would be worse off than we are now with regard to a shrinking middle class and a growing lower class with a small percentage of the population possessing most of the wealth.

Trump says, "that makes me smart" in reference to his NOT paying any taxes.

It is starting to fail in Sweden. As it fails everywhere.

Do you romanticize about communism? As in the great equalizer.

Sweden had a good thing going. Small, intelligent, homogeneous industrious country. They could afford levels of a welfare society.

Where do you get that idea from what I said? What do you romanticize about? A feudal society? An Oligarchy?
So many talk of equality as in standard of living. people are equal under the law. In success, people are not equal. people like Sanders dream of equalizing . That takes authority to redistribute. Do I have a problem with billionaires and their yachts? Hell no . That yacht of his is an immense redistributor of his wealth. Sanders has never created anything of value...NOTHING.

A post that starts with THE reason communism failed in the USSR isn't worth reading. Communism always fails everywhere it's tried and the reasons are as numerous as stars in the sky. Everything about it defies reality and human nature and no matter where or how it's implemented it's doomed to fail unless you are an ant colony or a bee hive.

"basically it is also a demographic problem"?

Ya think?

Unlimited freebies for unlimited new people moving in and pretty soon you run out of other peoples money...
